It’s first time I’m using Google Cloud and Google Cloud Operations but I can’t understand why I can’t create alerts. It’s asking for permission but I can’t set permission.
I wanted to get alerted for errors but I could not understand how can I done it when I press create alert button at the Log Explorer page I see this permission errors.
Any docs or something that can tell me how can I fix this?
So, I haven’t completed this myself either but in poking around a bit I think you have to configure the Roles in the dashboard. How…I’m not sure yet.
If you click on the hamburger menu at the top left of your dash, there are menus for Roles and IAM policies. Hopefully someone that knows more than I do can give you a clear direction, but this should be a good place to start exploring the google docs if you don’t hear anything for a bit. I’ll respond tomorrow if you are still stuck and I figure any more out but I’m signing off for the evening here shortly.
@loeix Oh boy. I don’t either but I assumed it was because I am testing on my work email and I wouldn’t have access to a google developers account with this email.
When you use the policy access troubleshooter what does it say?
Okay, so Google doesn’t think you are your own admin. In my case they are saying it’s because it would be someone in my Wix organization, which is legit.
When you go to this checker link and scroll down to the “Help me find my administrator” section what does it tell you? Mine looks like this…
@loeix Okay, perfect - no one is in charge! So, I think you HAVE to have an admin account to be able to use Google Cloud. Take a look at this article that tells you how to set up google cloud and your admin account.
@amandam I think I have problem about this because I already done this and I have an organization in my Google Cloud and when I create a project manually there is no problem I can access everything but when Wix creates a project automatically I can’t access anything because project is not going into my organization.
“You will need to move any projects you created under “No organization” into your new organization resource. For instructions on how to move your projects, see Migrating projects into an organization .”
In the screenshot you showed previously Google does not see you as having an organization and admin from the email you are signed in with. My personal email is not connected to a wix site with a domain so I can’t continue to troubleshoot as setting up an org requires that you own the domain but you will need Google to recognize that you are logged in as an administrator
@loeix Your email is named admin, but in your own screenshot when you did the troubleshooting, Google stated that it is not connected to an admin account and organization.
You need to associate your email with an admin account in google cloud. You don’t have permission because Google does not see you as an administrator of the account because it may be set up incorrectly in Google.
@loeix It’s a Google product so you have to play by their rules unfortunately. All the connection from Wix is providing for you is an automatic project connection. Wix/Velo has no control over your permissions within the Google dashboard.
@loeix Yeah, I’m sorry it’s been so frustrating. You could try reaching out to Google support and tell them you are having trouble with setting up your organization and admin, but I don’t know how responsive they are. I will ask around here as well and see if anyone is more well versed in working with Google cloud products.
