How can I add a custom preloader to my website?

I want the preloader to appear each time the website is going to take some time loading, including the very start should the home page take longer to load. I would like it to be a video, ideally. How can I do this?

I had originally tried a way using some pre made code where you just used the id of a strip and set that as a preloader… none of it worked at all sadly:(

I don’t know if it is the right answer but you maybe could use a lightbox to show up. And in the onReady code of your page you could hide it when all code is finished.
