How to Add a Solid Color Overlay to an Image

I’ve spent over two hours trying to add a solid black overlay to an image so that I can make that solid overlay 50% transparent, so that I can put white text over the image and make the text stand out more. I’ve tried to find a way in the inspector panel and Photo Studio adjustments, and all I can find are patterns and flares, bokehs, etc Someone bail me out and tell me what I’m missing.

2 options

1 - click on the image element - then in the inspector panel change the colour of the background and adjust the image opacity to 50%

2- add a container over the image and set the % - sometimes helps to add the image inside a container and then add another container over. The scalling can be controlled from the parent container.

That did it. Thanks, Dan. Cheers.

Hello,

You can add a black rectangle from the Shapes/Elements panel, stretch it over the image, set opacity to 50%, then place your white text on top. Done!
