I can't customize the log in - log out button

I just want this profile button to work as a connection to account page, I dont want it to open this menu because that menu is really ugly and you cant even customize that. If I just add an icon and then connect it to account page, then people can’t log in because an icon can’t do both log in and forwarding to account page. please help
