My client needs me to add 51 new items in the store, he insisted that they be in proper alphabetical order when the clients go to the store. The new added items are all on the top of the list. The only way WIX allows you to sort them is by drag and drop. Try dragging and dropping 51 items in a list of 1,000 items. It would take me hours and should be a click of a sort button.
Not only that, each of the 10 categories need to be manually sorted as well. Which means a minimum of 105 manually drag and drop sorts if an item is in only one category besides the all category.
PLEASE ALLOW THE PRODUCT DATABASE TO BE SORTED
Hey @raykayn ,
Thanks for the message and the usage for this case. If you would like to have the store products in alphabetical order, I like exporting the products and using a spreadsheet application like Google sheets to sort the products. Once they have been re-imported , they will be in the sorted format.
I’ll forward this to the team though especially if the products are digital files as those can’t be exported.
I checked with the team after making the video below and it seems they may be working on a default sorting for these pages when you add sorting option to the store page.
Thanks for you video.
I have been using the CSA approach, but unfortunately it is a lot more difficult for me. As you saw when you redid the Z-A sort and imported there are now double the items. So I need to delete all items which means selecting and deleting a hundred or so at a time, because it will not delete 1,000 items at a time.
Because I need to link to a second non-store custom database which allows more detailed filtering, when I upload after deleting all. All the handheld and and slug values have changed. so I have lost all links to the custom database.
So after already 1.download, 2.importing to spreadsheet, 3.deleting, 4. uploading as you showed in your video.
The only way to relink is to
5.export a list of hidden items, to be used later.
6.uncheck all hidden items, (because hidden items do not show up, in the next step)
7.Go to Edit>Content Manager>Manage Content>Products
8.download an CSV
9.bring it into a spreadsheet, to get the new handheld and slug values
10.make sure the Store and my custom data are identical
11.update the custom database with slug and handheld info.
12.Delete the custom database in WIX
13.upload CSV to custom database
14.manually re-hide the twenty five or so items one at a time
15.make sure everything is now working
It should not take me many hours to add 51 items to a database in 2023,
Maybe it would have in 1970?
Thanks for listing,
Ray
Thanks for the insight about the usage for the custom dataset; if I deleted all of the products, when I reimported, I didn’t end up with duplicates.
However, if I do delete the products, I do see it removes the connection in a referenced dataset though so I’ll bring that up.
Even if there are no duplicates, I still need to download sort in the new items and then upload.
Will the new items be merged into the list in alphabetical order? I cannot imagine that they would be. How is order set? Is the order reset with an update? Where does the ordering happen? It probably does not change on an update.
