First, I am waiting until the 21st to officially start my business page so that I can sell my music.
I am wondering if I am having issues finding options to create a link to an audio or video file that is sitting in DropBox because I have not officially started the billing cycle for either site. I am worn right out from switching from one software package that isn’t compatible with one hosting service or visa versa… I was presented with Wix Editor to start creating my page but realized Wix Studio is more advanced and appears to me (at least) to be more user friendly and with more options. So I have the basics for a site setup, menus, the info sections I have stored in text format and simply need to copy and paste them into the site and voila, my page is online… MINUS the audio or video that I need to be able to post and/or sell.
Can someone please point me in the right direction. I can spare to pay someone something for the basic assistance to get the two services talking to each other properly but I’m on a tight budget as I have been on long term disability for many years.
I do have ‘some money’ if someone can put a bit of time into helping me out. I was a network and systems engineer, so I am quite capable of navigating a system - so you won’t need to worry you’re talking to grampa “dunno whats smart about a phone”
LoL
Please and thank you…
Unfortunately, dropbox files are not able to be embedded anywhere. The Dropbox system is strict on purpose.
You can store the link in a database on Wix. When you connect it to a button it will redirect the person to Dropbox and then Dropbox will force login, etc.
Classic editor vs Studio ——- there is no difference in “user friendly” for the end user. One is responsive the other is adaptive on screens. Studio has less features because it is newer. Both are codable.
If you are creating an ecommerce site, the fastest way to accomplish the full “shopping experience “ is by using Wix Stores. But you can also embed whatever shop app you want.
Wix Video app has “selling” capabilities in the form of subscriptions but I don’t think it is compatible with Wix Studio yet. Or at least it wasn’t, the last I heard. Or maybe that was the Wix Music app ——- I’m not sure. My clients don’t use those apps since I custom code everything for them.
There is not any Wix app that does audio and video together. But like I said, you could also simply embed an external app that offers that capability.
Anyway, I offer project planning, design and coding services. You can google me —- Code Queen.
Thank you SO SO much. I’m totally and utterly exhausted with this whole website situation. Found a fantastic Mac only design app that was fabulous, then the fellow added a whole bundle of fantastic to it, but it wouldn’t connect with a hosting service. Went to another, were exceptionally rude to me. This is attempt #6. I’ve litterally crash coursed graphics design, web design, still know almost nothing about hosting but more than I did prior to all of this. I had 300 songs, iCloud ate about 80 of them. I’m somewhere over 200 songs though, each has it’s own art, video, high res versions to sell in whatever format and low res for the pirates that want freebies. Long and the short, they all require huge amounts of storage and bandwidth for most service providers.
You totally saved me a bundle of time. I wrote the business contact at DropBox for the same. I’ll save her the trouble of replying. Vimeo is about the same price. As I’m living in Peru apparently various apps and services drop their prices so SoundCloud is a bit over $4 monthly, but I was thinking I can get away with creating only a video link for each song. No need to post the audio, they can watch or just listen and I don’t need to subscribe to a bundle of services for hosting. This ‘pause’ from continuing plus your exceptionally great info has actually helped tremendously.
At minimum I’d be pleased to send you some links to some of my videos if you like. I have a bundle of different genres that I’ve written them in. No lyrics, just music other than one Pink Floyd song that might be in the missing bundle…
If no one has told you that you’re awesome today… I just did.
