Info that fits into multiple collections

Hi, I have a plant library with various categories and subcategories. But many plants fall into more than one category and sub. Taking the Succulents collection as an example; my Succulents Index page links to the Succulent collection database. But all of these plants also fit into a variety of other categories. Do I need to input them again into collections named for those categories, can I copy the info across sandboxes, or is there an easier way to bring those plants into the various index pages by using a specific field to identify it?
Thanks very much.

Yes, it can be done with just one collection; this is actually the case we designed the system for…
But before I provide you with more details, can you share a few examples of the plants and their different categories and subcategories?

It will help me understand the way you want to dissect your data.

Thanks!

Hi Ziv, yes, I’ve just figured out now that I should have only created one collection. Now I have a few, and need to know if I can move them into a single collection.

Here are a few categories and subcategories:
Category: Habitat
Subs: Grassland
Woodland
Open area
Category: Garden Situations
Subs Full sun
Moist shade
Dry shade
Retaining walls
Category: Plant Category
Subs Trees
Large Shrubs
Small Shrubs
And so on
I’m busy working out creating category pages by adding fields and then filters.

My main concern now it the issue of the already numerous plants already uploaded.

Hi, is there any way the collections already created can be put into one Plant collection?

Currently there’s no real easy way to do this.
We plan to release an import/export feature in the near future that would ease the pain…

Thanks, Ziv. I’ll keep an eye out for that feature.
