Member Login / How to video

Member Login …

1 regular page + 1 dynamic + Wix Code = Member can view and edit THEIR profile page upon login.

You can make it:

  • Public View (display collected data on another public page of your site) and Member can Edit
  • Private View and Member can Edit

All it takes is a little creativity, a little style and you have yourself a custom member platform

Here you go …

Hi, I liked your very practical video

a tip, so that I can create my own user input system

.

Hi Nayeli,
I am STILL not able to get this to work. Can you please take a look at my latest thread where I have detailed the problem, complete with screen shots?

Thanks
JD

i should respond to my last post. I now have this working. Great video.

Unfortunately, you have to use the standard wix login with zero design choices.
i wonder if it’s possible to use wix data, wix code and normal form input fields to create a truly custom login page, unrelated to the wix site member function.

Customizing the member sign up is coming soon …

https://www.wix.com/code/home/coming-soon

Thanks Nayeli, but I’ve been hearing that for three months now! What is their definition of “soon”… this quarter? six months? this year?

They announced it the week of Christmas …

They usually don’t announce anything unless its within 3 months of radar for release.

It’s only been about 5 or 6 weeks … soooooo …

Soon.

Thank You. I guess I was mistaken about announcement. I was trying to get member logins to work with MY database since inception… November timeframe.

Great job Nayeli!

Very useful for me. Looking for more great video from you. Thanks Nayeli. Cheers

Thank you Kevin and Ming!

Hi Congrats and thanks Nayeli, So your solution is an alternative until Wix release Customizing the member sign or it’s a complement? Just asking to not have rework in something that I can wait a bit. Best!

Think of the page acting as an ‘audit’ to see ‘who’ is online. If they are not signed in ---- it pops open the wix members sign up app because already connects to all your site. The page doesn’t really do any of the ‘signing up’ ----- it just finds out if someone is signed in or not and prompts them to log in.

Instead of using the member login app ---- yes, you can create your own ‘user’ and ‘password’ scenerio ----- but it’s just so much work! LOL ----- What if they forget it, then you have to help them, etc. The app does everything for you already.

Work smarter, not harder.

Good things come to those who wait

Got it! Thanks for your advice!

It’s too bad this is taking so long. All I really need at the moment is the ability to change the text of the button so that it says “Members-only Login”

Hey. I have been using the login and log out page for quite sometime but have major issue. When someone new signs up or if I add them it generates with the Unique ID link. If someone has the link that is generated anyone can access the account even if not logged in. Is there a way to fix this, or is this not fixable ?

Thank you so much for this video. You broke it down and explained everything sooo perfectly - THANK YOU - YOU’RE AN ANGEL! I need your help though, if you’d be so kind. I have everything setup as directed but there’s def something missing on my end. Am I supposed to have the Wix Login App or something in order for the LOGIN USERNAME & PASSWORD window to launch? It’s not launching…like there’s no prompt. Am I supposed to create that with a lightbox? or is whatever in the code supposed to prompt a login username/password window to show up? HELLLLPP!!!

I am having the same problem. However, I figured when you refresh the page you will see that you are actually logged in and the buttons show the correct state they should be in. (i.e Login switches to Logout and Profile button goes from hidden to display mode.
I talked to many wix support people and no one has been able to help.
I followed the same exact code on this article but no luck

Have you been able to resolve?
Did you try refreshing the page (or please try and see if it shows the buttons correctly).
