Question:
Is it possible to display different content in a different language version of the same site?
Product:
Wix Editor
What are you trying to achieve:
I would like to display my restaurant menu in a different language. I read on your guides that it’s not yet possible to translate a restaurant menu. So I thought I could just duplicate a menu and translate it to another language, then display one or the other in a different language version of my site. I’m still building the site and I don’t have any coding skills, so I wonder if this is possible at all, and if possible with the graphic UI.
What have you already tried:
I found on Wix guides that localised restaurant menu is not a feature yet. Therefore I’m looking for a workaround.
Additional information:
It would be immensely great if modifying the Italian menu, like adding or removing a certain item etc, also reflected the change in a different language version of the site…
hello there. As you’ve mentioned it previously, such capability as multilingual translation for Restaurants menu is not available, here is the request you can vote for so our developers will receive note that you would like to see it in the future: Wix Restaurants Request: Creating Multilingual Menus | Help Center | Wix.com as for the menus duplicate, as I can see there is no such capability yet, unfortunately, so it may take some time for you to adjust everything.
Feel free to tag me, in case there will be any additional questions.
You can create different menus in Wix Restaurants Orders app.
You can create different menus in Wix Restaurants Menus (New) app.
You can create different menus for each language so you will have full control for each language with every detail. And in your online orders page users will be able to select menu related to their language. You can also create a lighbox to show in that page to show users that they can switch between menus.
Nex option is same with above but this time you can do it with menu app which is not for accepting orders. In this version you can show specific menu in every page you will create. So you can create different pages for different languages with related content.
Since we don’t have APIs for restaurant apps yet you can’t do much with coding too.
Dear @LoeiX , thank you very much for your answer. I think that we’re on the right track with your suggestions, however, I’m a bit stuck.
I only need to display a menu (I don’t need to take online orders), so the solution 2. could do.
My problem is, that I can’t manage to display a certain menu in my Italian page and another menu in my English page. Whenever I add something to my main language, that content is automatically reflected in my secondary language (English) page, so if only I could edit the English version in such a way that it ignores the main language content and accepts a new menu… that would definitely do!
