I have only started looking at using Corvid and I love the freedom it gives you to customise your store, product and check out pages etc. When I go into my Wix Store database it is read only! My questions is…is there a way I can customise the Wix Store database or do I need to start from scratch. Sorry in advance if I am missing something obvious.
I am having the same issue. I would like to add items to my Wix product database, however, it says it is read-only. The current fields that the default store database gives is not sufficient for what I need.
Alternatively, I tried to replicate a store by creating a new database and linking this to a repeater, however, I am unable to replicate the filter options the Wix store provides, specifically the checkboxes and slider to filter on selection.
My next step is to try and create a 301 re-direct from the store to a new dynamic page I created for each product where I can add all the extra items I need into the database. However, from other forums, it seems that this won’t work either.
Any suggestions would be great as I have been trying to figure this out for weeks!!
I took your suggestion and added the wix app store, however, the product database in this is read-only as well and I am unable to add extra fields to the database. The current product information fields are not appropriate for the product I am selling.
There must be a way of adding custom fields to the product database or at least have a way to change the database the wix store uses sop it can pull all the extra fields needed.
I am having to source other platforms at this stage.
Yes, as I mentioned above Wix Stores database will only be Read Only. This means you cannot add or edit fields. To add info you must use the actual Wix Store app. You can, however, create an additional database and create a reference field to then Wix Stores database. From there, you will be able to recreate your own pages. Just know that limitations will still exist. Meaning you can change or create new fields for the checkout process. To customize a Wix Stores app is best to hire a Corvid expert that understands its limitations.
P.s. If you do not want to code or thr project does not have the budget to hire an expert coder … know that there are other store apps that you can integrate or embed onto your Wix site … such as Ecwid.
The EcWid has more limitations than the Wix app store. so I don’t think this is even an option. i reached for support from Wix professional developers, however, it seems they will only support if they can take ownership of the entire project which i do not want nor need.
If I am to consider going down the route of handing the project over to a professional, I wouldn’t need Wix for this at all.
The most important part of any site is the store, but Wix have limited the customisation to this, rendering Wix’s ability of customisation useless. what’s the point of having a great custom design website, if then you have a store that is exactly the same as millions of other sites which is limited by the product information you can have pulled through.
i appreciate your reply but it seems there is no current solution offered from wix to do the below
Add extra fields outside of the default store information fields.
Being able to connect the store to a custom database
Change the product page the wix store links to.
Where can i find further information on the option you suggested in regards to creating a reference filed in the wix store database?
i have also tried to do the multi reference as you have suggested. the issue here is i am unable to do anything with the product database so once i have created the multi reference in the collection i want to connect to, i am unable to add a new field for the the reference in the collection i want to connect from.
i cannot help to feel that i am back to stage one of my post re: complaining about the read only product database within the wix store app unable to add custom product information.
