Possible to remove browser history with Exit button?

Hi there! I’m working with a domestic violence shelter on a new website and have discovered that sites like thehotline.org can be wiped from browser session to protect victims of domestic violence, specifically when the emergency Exit button is activated. Does anyone know how this is done?

Tried researching browser anonymity and quickly fell down a rabbit hole. Similarly to the NDVH site, if a user hits the back button my client would like it to go back to google without any evidence.

So, if you go to thehotline.org and press their EXIT button - it deletes their page from your browser session and redirects to google. When you press the back button there’s nothing there.

Also noticed if you do a google search (or start from any other website), then go to their site thehotline.org, press their exit button, it takes you to google, when you press the back button, it takes you to the previous site you were on and there’s no evidence of their site.

Let me know if this makes sense, but I’d like to do something similar for my client…just don’t know how or where to start.

you cannot remove browser records… what are you try to achieve?

wow, what a cool idea. I did check on thehotline.org and it does not delete your browser history. It only takes you to google. You could do this by just linking a button and setting it to open in the same tab.

Thanks Joris, yeah noticed that too as I looked into further. I’m stumped on the back button part of this all. If I could figure that part out maybe through html? I’m more of a creative so this has me at a loss. Any thoughts?

For the website to be removed when the back button is pressed in the browser after it lands on Google.
