We are a video production company. We want to offer clients a private page where they can access a URL that takes them to their unique Dropbox folder, in which sits the video files we have produced for them. Here are some failed solutions:
→ we could manually create new, individual pages which are accessible to members with assigned roles, with each page locked for everyone without those specific roles. The problem: this is not a scaleable solution, especially when there is a high volume of clients. Therefore we need some sort of dynamic page.
→ We could create a new URL field in the member’s profile data, which we call “My Videos” and would show up their “My Account” page. In this case, the “My Account” page is private, but the profile information on the page itself is editable. Thus, to use that URL link, clients would copy and paste it into their browser. The problem: this is an awkward, non-graceful solution, and leaves the very-likely possibility of clients accidentally editing-away their URL.
→ We could create a public profile page in which the URL would be the only profile information that shows up. The problem: while you can hide such a page from Google Search results, the page remains public for other members to view, should they obtain the URL for that profile.
Therefore, it appears that we need a solution where a page behaves much like a public profile (in that it is a dynamic, read-only presentation of specific profile information), but is totally private.
Any solutions out there? To me, this type of page seems like a reasonable, useful concept for creative-type companies such as ourselves, but there is no built-in solution to this.
Thanks in advance!
