Restricting Member Pages by Role

I have four pages on my site in the Member Pages area (print screen below). I want to restrict access to these pages by Role. According to the documentation, I should be able to do this easily (copy of documentation screen below). However, when I go to the Permissions tab for these pages, there is no option to restrict the pages by Role (print screen below). When I go to the dashboard to attempt to restrict the pages by Role in that area, the system says I don’t have any members only pages!!

Users should either be warned that Member Pages don’t allow access restriction by Role in the documentation, or this should be fixed.

Now I have to recreate three of these pages in the Site Menu and, hopefully, I’ll be able to restrict access by Role.

You are much better suited going straight through Wix Support for more help or reading the Wix Support pages about the Wix Members app and setting pages to member or roles only.

Sorry. Tried going through Wix support but they didn’t get that I had set up the pages in the Member Pages section and am trying to control access through Roles

I’m just going to give up and try this another way.

What I did for this issue is i made the pages I wanted for roles only to be Pages, and not “Member Pages” i dont think there is a way as of now to seperate “Member Pages” by roles. So created different pages, if you look at the (…) next to a page, there is the option to let specific roled members to go to that specific page.

The documentation is correct and very clear for everybody to read it and it clearly shows you how to set member pages by their roles and not just for all members.

If you are struggling with this simple task, then I suggest that if you want further help or wish to use Wix Corvid in your site, that you look at hiring somebody from Wix Arena as it seems that you are struggling with just simple tasks and following simple instructions on tutorials from Wix Support.

Givemeawhiskey, I’ve seen that documentation and read it multiple times. And I’ve tried to make it work distinctly as instructed. (I’m not a novice at this stuff!) But when the pages I’m trying to restrict by Roles are in the Member Pages of the system, as shown here -

And I go to the permissions tab for one of the pages (e.g., Job Description Index, Job Description - New or RVMC Nursing Calendar), this is the user interface I see -

I do not see the page shown in the documentation, as you’ve shown above.

When I go to the dashboard to set the page permissions by role, I see this -

Please, try to set up a page under Member Pages and restrict access by Role. I think you will find that the documentation is WRONG! Wix Support is not dealing with the problem (I have called multiple times and we have exchanged numerous emails) and Wix users have no way of knowing that this isn’t going to work because Wix Support doesn’t have a forum for sharing what’s not working.

I apologize for dumping this issue here but I think this is an issue that should be addressed rather than swept away by Wix support. If I had seen a post addressing this issue, I wouldn’t have wasted hours trying to make it work base on faulty documentation.

That is because the Wix Members app is all setup for the individual site member themselves and not actually for all members to view each and every other site members own pages. So in simple english, the Wix Members app pages are unique to each and every user, hence the My Account page, Addresses page, Wallet page, Blog pages, Forum pages, Booking pages and Order page etc.

Which is what is stated under the Who Can View This Page? in the second picture.

To make it for a set group of site members in a certain role and not for individual site members only, then yes you do have to go through the normal pages and make them member only and then choose the role for that specific page.

As already stated in previous replies, the Wix Members app gives you an automated way of doing something like this profile page etc with it’s own My Account page and all the other pages that are bundled in with it with the likes of Wix Blog app, Wix Forum app, Wix Bookings and the Wix Stores app pages too.

If you use the Wix app then you are limited to what you are able to do with the app’s own settings and through code itself, however, if you are wanting full and complete control, then you simply make up your own member pages and do everything through Corvid instead of using the app which is ready-made.

Although a lot of users will regularly use the Wix Members app alongside the Wix Members Profile tutorial and simply not use all the pages from the Wix Members app and not use the Wix Login Bar from the app either.

Anyways, this is not code related and not a Corvid issue, so this is me done with this post. If you have anymore concerns with it then DO go through Wix Support as this issue is their responsibility :wink:

Members Only vs Members Area pages:

Members Only restricted page us a regular page that allows you to select a specific set of users to access that page (free or paid). You add roles via dashboard or page settings.

Members Area pages are for ALL members regardless of role or member type. You cannot add roles via dashboard nor page settings.

If you want to restrict specific Member Area pages to a specific set of members then you have to add code to your page. You would get the current user logged in, check their role and redirect / do something with the persons that dont have permission to be there.

Your question alone is not Corvid related, but the solution is.
