Sharing a CMS Collection Across Multiple Sites using API

I’m posting a link below to the CMS Request: Sharing a CMS Collection Across Multiple Sites for reference. Would this be possible using api? I don’t really know much about setting that stuff up but I’m willing to learn if it’s possible. I was just thinking (with the limited knowledge I have) one api could send the needed data from site 1 then another could fetch it for site 2. Is this just wishful thinking?

Yes this is very much possible using an API. But this will require a lot of custom coded functionality on each of the sites.
