In Editor Ex it was two steps to the Media Manager (Tools > Media Manager), in Wix Studio it’s taking 3 steps. (+ > Media > Upload), 4 if you want to look through your media and not upload.
I’d love for there to be a shortcut to the Site Files in the sidebar to shorten it down to one click.
I learned that a few weeks ago after using editor x for a year and a half. So I completely agree with @Eric_Biddle that having a link to it in the dashboard would be good.
Additionally, it if could be it’s own link rather than a pop up window that’d be even better. It would make it possible for us to simply send the link to a client, then they can go straight to it and upload files. It would be much simpler, rather than either A) having to guide them trough an awkward solution using the search bar or B) them having to send us files elsewhere, and then we upload them.
Ya I discovered that. But it’s weird to me that you have to search for it instead of just having it live right on the dashboard like most other things.
I see nothing has been done since August 2023. I wonder what “team” you passed it to? This is a real issue for me using Wix and if it is not fixed soon, I will definitely be moving on. It takes forever to work on my website mainly because of how much work it is to get access to my own photos! I’m trying to imagine how any Wix user could not despise this horrible weakness in the platorm since most all need constant access to photos of their products on their websites! Must be some benefit (financial) to Wix itself to tuck away this access, making you click Media, then scroll through a bunch of garbage to find a few of you photos, then scoll down to find a tiny line of text that you must click to find your photos. EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU NEED A PHOTO! No, Wix could not possibly add a button enabling users to access their photos easily. Make me Wix president so I can fire the goobs responsible. And if the president approves… yeah, I’m moving on.
I completely understand the frustration - especially when it’s something you use constantly in your workflow.
Feedback from the community is one of many factors considered when our teams are prioritizing features, and while it’s not a guarantee something will be added to the pipeline, we do regularly share and advocate for requests like this.
In this case, the reason it hasn’t been developed yet is a bit more complex than it might seem. All items in the sidebar work as pages, while the Media Manager is currently built to open as a modal. Adding it to the sidebar would require significant work for it to also function as a page, while still supporting the existing modal experience. Because of that, it hasn’t been prioritised yet, though the feedback continues to be raised with the relevant teams.
Thank you Noah. Even if a link pops up when clicking the media button (eliminating the need to scroll), this would help. As it stands, priority is given to other lists of media which would not be needed so often, if at all, though they could generate additional costs to the user –perhaps the reason they are so much easier to access. Seriously, if you’re building a website, access to your own files should be seamless and easy.
