Side Navigation Menu Help

Hello All-

Hope everyone is doing well. I had a quick question and was hoping someone could help me out with a newbie question using editor-x.

I have no experience creating websites, but have been tasked with the job of creating a webpage for our documentation. What they would like to have on the page is a menu on the left hand side of the screen, something like

Option 1
Option 2
Option 3

And then when you click on Option 1, on the right hand side of the same page, information in regards to Option 1 would appear next to it. Then when you clicked Option 2, the text would be replaced by all the information for Option 2, etc.

I essentially have a document that explains how to use our product, and is broken down into chapters, so each menu item on the left hand side of the screen, will be a chapter in the document, when you click on the chapter name, all the information for that chapter will appear on the right-hand side.

Here is a website that we are trying to model after, this is not an advertisement, we are not affiliated with this company in any way, we just want to simulate how their documentation is displayed on their website.

I hope this makes sense, I have been trying to figure this out for two days. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
-Bob

Hello @bigdaddy050970 ,

Happy to hear that you’ve started using Editor X and no worries about being a newbie. We’ve all been there.

As for the example site you shared, it seems that the site is using a combination of vertical sections and anchors to get this flow. I’ll see if I can’t break this down below bit-by-bit using a test site on my account.

For the left hand side with the menu to get to the pages, you can make a vertical and make it a master section so that you can show decide which pages display will show this menu.

Then for the right-hand, you can make another vertical section that will be unique for each page. You can use an anchor menu to link to anchored items so that users can get to the relevant text field .

If you are new to Editor X, definitely recommend checking out our Academy X which has tutorials for the features and tools of Editor X.
