Slideshow Repeaters - Time each item less than 3 sec

Hi!

I need to create “a fast slideshow” with 0.5 seconds per each item and autoplay, with cross-fade effect (Slideshow repeaters).

There’s no option to set time on each item less than 3 s. It would be super useful for portfolio websites, case studies or hero sections with no need to upload gifs.

Layout Tools>Slideshow Repeaters>Settings>Time on each item

Thanks!

@user2037 Hey that’s great feedback! Noted! Is a portfolio what you were looking to use a fast slideshow on?

@pamela Hi! I also have the same need regarding slideshows! I would use it to quickly preview some portfolio images and would like to customize the time per slide (to be less than 3 seconds). Do you know when this could be implemented? Thanks so much!

Hi, I’m looking equally for repeating slides (2-3 secs) on my homepage. Is it available? Please confirm. I’m confused

Same here, can’t be that hard, just instead of 3 put .5 there or sth. Maybe 1. Should be simple for your devs.

I am using it to quickly change the text. Imagine like: We build Software / Apps / Websites / …

If that is there longer than 1 second people skim over and will think we only do X (e.g. Apps). It is super needed!

This limitation is so frustrating. I tried to submit a feature request and got an auto response from Wix that the feature I want already exists. It directed me to the slideshow feature where you can set the speed which is of no help at all.

The Wix responder (AI?) is unable to understand that the feature request to play slides for less than three seconds does not currently exist.

Hi, Pamela,

More than a year ago you replied enthusiastically to the above request for slideshow repeaters to have greater flexibility for transitions, with shorter times being requested for each item in the slideshow.

Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to have been implemented. Is this something that’s currently in the works? I am facing the same issue as the many others in this thread and would really appreciate it if you guys could hurry this up.

Thanks.

I believe it’s technically possible to set the display time for each item in a slideshow repeater to less than 3 seconds using code. However, when I tried it just now, it seems that there’s a bug affecting the slideshow-related APIs, and it didn’t work as expected. If this issue isn’t limited to just my environment, it may require investigation and a fix on Wix’s side.

I truly need this feature as well, and I know many others would greatly appreciate it too. How challenging would it be to update this on the WIX side? Please keep us informed once the change has been made—we’d be so grateful. Thank you in advance!

@Rob

I feel like the slideshow repeater–related APIs are a bit unstable—am I imagining things? The other day, it seemed like .changeSlide() and .slides weren’t working (and maybe some others as well), but when I tried again just now, .changeSlide() did work. I thought maybe it had been fixed, but at the moment .slides still returns undefined every time, so it’s not usable.

Interesting. I remember a member asking about it within the discord community or facebook community and if you’re referring to this Change Slide | Velo , I believe it’s specifically for the element within the Wix Editor and not Wix Studio.

Were you trying it within Studio?

This is about the slideshow repeater in Wix Studio. When using a slideshow repeater in Wix Studio, .slides seems to be available in the code, but in practice, it only ever returns undefined. As for .changeSlide(), I tried it today and it worked. I’m really sleepy now, so this will be my last reply for today. Good night, Rob. It would be helpful if you could at least check .slides on your end. :innocent:

Yeah. I get a similar result on my end. I’m going to take a further look into it.

Thanks for testing it so quickly and even making a video, Rob. :raising_hands: I’m relieved to know that it’s not just an issue with my own environment. This was one of the things that had been bothering me for a while, so I really appreciate your help. I hope this bug gets fixed soon! :innocent:
