I’m an artist that has shop updates full of ooak items. I sold on Etsy for 4 years before deciding to switch over to wix and have total control of my own site. Before I commited, I specifically called customer service to make absolutely sure that wix stores could handle the sudden and intense traffic of my store updates. They said yes, it’s built to easily handle thousands of visitors with ease, there should be no problems. As you can imagine I was incredibly dismayed when, on my first shop update with wix stores, one item got sold to two people!!! I had marked the inventory as only one available and yet still two people had managed to buy it. Panic. So I called immediately and was told “Yeah that shouldn’t have happened, total fluke” So I pursued it and apparently an item is left available to buy in the store until payment goes through. What this caused was one person adding this to their cart and starting the payment processing, while that was loading a second person added it to their cart, but their payment went through first so they technically got it, meanwhile the first person’s payment finally went through and the store gave it to them as well! Talk about unprofessional and mortifying to have to contact my clients to tell them of the incident. When I asked what was being done to resolve it, I was told that perhaps my type of updates wouldn’t work well with wix presently. YOU THINK?? Finally I talked with someone who mentioned there may be a way around it via coding so that’s the long winded reason why I’m here! Personally I’d love a solution that as soon as an item in added to someone’s cart and they start the payment process that a “Payment pending” label appears on the item in the shop, and it can’t be selected by anyone else. Then they have say 3-5 minutes to complete the transaction, otherwise the item becomes available for purchase again. Ideally it there could be a countdown clock on the item in the store, that’d be amazing so other people who want it can see how long until they might be able to snag it. But that may be too technically advanced. I have connections with many artists who have held back from using wix once I shared this issue, but would love to use you once it’s fixed! ANY help would be appreciated! Side note, I’m aware there is also a proposed solution (not via code) that you can vote on, however I shared it and many people voted, with no development. So I come back to hopefully being able to code around the problem.
Thanks in advance!
