Hello,
I would love to show in my recipes websites the right weight units of measurement based on the location the customer is based.
The user story should sound like “As a user based in the US I want to view the quantity of the ingredients on the recipes pages in imperial units of weight so that I can easily resonate with the knowledge I am most familiar with”
Or
“As a user based in Europe I want to view the quantity of the ingredients on the recipes pages in metric units of weight so that I can easily resonate with the knowledge I am most familiar with”
I believe I would need something like:
Detect where the user is connecting from
call an API (or at least store conversions statically in my DB) converting metrics/imperial units and vice-versa based on the location
show the calculation on the interface
Does anyone have experience/best practices suggestions on how to achieve this?
As you said the first step is to detect the location,
But how to do it depends on whether you want it to use the browser locale settings or to use the user IP to detect the location.
Hi, I have another issue, in wix store, when I specify the UoM (Unit of measure) there is nothing for individual items (Each). So when I am selling a case of Pepsi and I want to show the price per unit, I cant?
I think that really why count something yourself, if you can use a converter .For me, it has always been difficult to calculate, especially the units of measurement, so I use this cm-to, so that in situations when I need to convert something, I could do it with ease using this site. Here, you write about an even more complicated calculation scheme, I’m a humanist, and I like to read more literature or history, but math is not what I thought was necessary for me.
