I am trying to allow customers to upload their STL files for 3D printing.
At that moment only images, Video, documents can be uploaded.
This does not include STL files.
Question;
Is there a way to allow for STL files to be uploaded by customers into the sites Customer Database?
We have same issue with the STL files. The “official” explanation from WIX support. No it is not possible and it won’t change. Thank you! Very proffessional approach!
Well that fn sucks! That puts a spanner in the works. The only way now is to do zip files until I can afford to pay a third party to do all that and embed the HTML. Why would they say it’s impossible!!?
A work-around could be using public google drive urls to STLs or any other file and instead of uploading, user provides a url string

we need this asap, can i code a converter in wix so i can get the stl file on the way out?

.stl files are just a text files!!!
You can open them in notepad and see the location of each vertex and face in plain text.
User can change extension from .stl to .txt and then upload as a document. I can then receive the file, change the extension back to .stl and open in CAD or 3D printer slicer.
WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO ASK MY CUSTOMERS TO DO SOMETHING SO STUPID???

And you are right it is stupid asking our customers to send us stl in a text file. No one will do it, maybe one or two.
I have been asking Wix for more than two years and decided it would be easier for me to create a new site and advertise locally then get Wix to allow STL files.
