I don’t understand why we can’t create a point system that we want on our own site?
I’m not talking about “Loyalty Points” but i can’t add a Special Point system to my website, the earning and spending of which is completely under my control, which makes me feel like I don’t own my website.
I want to add a Point system that I want and set how it is earned (forum activity, likes by others) and how it is spent (voting, buying a product or seeing a forum category).
You definitely can, it just requires doing what Wix has done implementing theirs - Coding it.
Like —> DeanAyalon <— already mentioned → yes you can.
The problem is → YOU HAVE TO CODE IT ON YOUR OWN.
You even are able to connect your own generated point-system to Wix-Elements like →
- Wix-Members
- Wix-Stores
- and many others.
But to create your own APP (Point-System-APP) you will need a lot of know how, especialy if you want to connect your APP to different SUB-APPS (3rd.-party-apps or WIX-APPs).
There are many different ways of how to achieve your goal …
- HTML-COMPONENT
- CUSTOM-ELEMENT
- Wix-BLOCKS
- Wix-Code-Packs
- using HTTP-Functions and REST-APIs
- or even generating your → own NPM-PACKAGEs
Or if you are a real PRO → you can combine all together including complexe coding and of course DATABASES.
I already know that you can do many things by coding. I use Wix because it allows me to make a website without coding.
Thanks for answers
You’re asking for a “special” system to fit your site’s needs, what’s there not to understand about it not being something someone already built for you?
We should have a special point system, like the “Loyalty Points” we are given, and we should be given much more advanced options for earning and spending them. For example, when I create a new category, I should be able to spend points for accessing this category, or interacting within this category should earn points.
And this is a general issue, not for the needs of the site. If Wix is aiming to meet different kinds of needs in different areas, I think it’s normal to expect features like this to be more advanced. The current “Loyalty Point” is only used for purchases and discounts, it has no impact on interactions within the site, and this is a major shortcoming.
Potato potato, they made a general system, you think we ought to have a more complex one.
If you believe this is a general-purpose thing many clients would benefit from, submit a feature request, there’s nothing not to understand.
Also your title indicates a specific need, rather than a general thing…
