Why is the Wix Editor Experience different between two different sites?

I’ve just completed an extension. I’m trying to implement it into our 2nd site. To install the extension, You need to install code and elements on some pages. The elements installed needs a specific ID for the copy/paste to work. When developing the original site, I could easily double click the ID from the layers panel and edit it if I needed to.

On the 2nd site, The Wix Studio Interface is completely different… And In this version, The Element ID is wrong, and In Dev mode, I can see it, but I cannot find anywhere to edit it…

Why…? Just… Why? As I mentioned in my last post on here, I’m impressed with wix, But there’s so much stuff like this that I just can’t take it seriously… In order to use wix, which our company wants to, it needs to work consistently, Which it absolutely doesn’t in my experience so far. As soon as I make a standardized way to do something, it just doesn’t work at all in another context.

There are 2 editors:

  • Wix Studio editor (what your first screenshot shows) - and is aimed at agencies and freelancers who build sites for others.
  • Wix Editor (what your second screenshot shows) - and is aimed at self creators who are building websites for themselves. Some things are abstracted out a little further to make the experience as intuitive as possible.

This does result in differences, and there are some features available in Studio that aren’t available in the Wix editor.

That said, the in-editor IDE is fairly comparable between the 2, and you’ll find the element ID in the “Properties & Events” panel with the IDE on both the editors

Hope this helps clear some things up :raising_hands:
