I am working on a modern Mac laptop. I needed to create a simple Wix Database Collection to manage some dynamic content. I created one, set the permissions like I wanted to, added the 4 columns I needed, and started to try to add rows. Things I realized:
– Could not copy/paste data from reference doc into Database grid (this is simply a pain…)
–Could not delete one or any rows, with data in them or blank. (There is supposed to be some control-click contextual menu to delete/duplicate rows, but DOES NOT WORK ON MAC?)
–I got so frustrated, I deleted the Database and it is gone from my site structure menu. But now, when I try to create a new database with the same name, I get “This Database already exists.” It also still appears in my dashboard. I cannot get rid of it.
So, can anyone tell me:
— How to delete one or more rows? There is no contextual menu, nor any menu command…
— How to blow out the entire database so I can start over?
Much thanks!
– Larry
Hi Larry,
- You should be able to delete rows - either one by one or by selecting multiple with Cmd+Click and then double tapping/right clicking on the row number cell to open the context menu (which provides copy/delete/duplicate options). Does that work?
- There is no way to actually delete a database if you created it by a certain name once but you can delete the rows the way I explained above.
By the way, how are you trying to insert content into the db? You could use Import feature to batch import from a supported kind of document (like .xlsx or .csv). If you are copypasting it cell by cell, you need to click the cell to switch it to edit mode and you should be able to paste the item there.
Thank you, Simonas. No; there does not seem to be any way to get at that context menu. No matter where I click in the row number off to the side.
Weird. Can you check if it works on some other computer?
I just tried on a new Windows laptop. Chrome. Nope. I cannot change anything in a Collection once I add it (delete a column, a row, etc.).
@lmolmud Do you still encounter the same issue? If yes, could you provide a link to your site so I can try it on my environment?
