Wix Email Marketing custom date

My question is about the e-mail automations and dynamic values. I have an automated e-mail that sends out an email one day after a new subscriber has enrolled. We are trying to make a discount email that is set within 10 days after the email is sent.

I’m using Wix Editor

Let’s say my automated e-mail triggers on July 2, 2024 then the dynamic value date in the e-mail should state July 12, 2024. It’s always 10 days so If it triggered on July 3, then the date should show July 13.

Wix Automations does offer a delay option that can be helpful in your situation. However, there’s a slight limitation when it comes to triggering an email based on the timeframe after another email is sent.

Using Wix Automations Delay:

  1. Welcome Email: Create a welcome email that triggers one day after a new subscriber joins.
  2. Discount Email: Set up a separate automation workflow with the following:
  • Trigger: Choose “After a delay” from the trigger options.
  • Delay: Select the desired timeframe (e.g., 10 days) using the delay options provided.
  • Action: Select “Send Email” and design your discount email with the appropriate offer details.

Limitation and Workarounds:

While the Wix Automations delay option allows for sending a discount email after a set time, it doesn’t directly trigger based on when the welcome email was sent. This means the 10-day timer starts from the moment the automation workflow initiates, not from the welcome email delivery.

To address this limitation, here are two alternative approaches:

  • Adjusted Timeframe: In the delay option, set a slightly longer timeframe (e.g., 12 days) to compensate for any potential delay between the workflow initiation and the welcome email delivery.
  • Manual Adjustment: If the subscriber list is manageable, consider manually sending a discount email campaign approximately 10 days after sending the welcome email blast.

By incorporating the delay option and considering the limitations, you can create a more targeted discount email campaign within Wix Automations.

Thank you for this. I’m going to try some of your suggestion.

But there is no possible way to add a date dynamic value on the e-mail right?

While Wix Studio itself doesn’t offer dynamic date insertion in emails, Velo, its built-in development environment, opens up a world of possibilities. Velo lets you write custom code to achieve complex functionalities, including dynamic dates in emails through automation.

Technically, anything is achievable with Velo and your own automations. However, it’s important to consider the trade-off. Setting up custom code and automations requires significant technical expertise and can be quite time-consuming.

Here’s where Wix’s email delay option comes in. It might not be as flexible as a fully custom solution, but it offers a much simpler way to achieve a similar outcome. With the delay option, you can schedule emails to be sent at specific times, effectively achieving a date-related functionality without diving into complex coding.

Ultimately, the best approach depends on your needs. If a simple date-related email functionality is all you require, the delay option might be the perfect solution. If you need ultimate flexibility and control, then Velo is the way to go, but be prepared for a steeper learning curve.

If you’re trying to set a custom date for your Wix email marketing campaign, it’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it. When you’re in the email editor, you’ll find an option to schedule your campaign under the “Send” button. You can pick a specific date and time to send your emails. You can also adjust time zones, which helps reach different regions. If you’re looking for more options, check out Wix’s email marketing tutorial, which walks you through it step by step. The “search email addresses” tool is helpful, especially when targeting specific segments. Just make sure you have your lists ready and sorted!
