Wix Studio: How to Hide Desktop Video Background in Mobile View?

Question:

How can I hide the desktop video background in the mobile version of my Wix Studio site?

Product:

Wix Studio Editor

What are you trying to achieve:

I have a video background in 16:9 for the desktop version of my site. For the mobile version, I want to use a different video background in 9:16. However, the desktop video background still appears on mobile, overlaying the mobile background. Unlike other elements, I can’t find an option to hide the desktop background in the mobile view. How can I fix this?

What have you already tried:

• Checked Wix Studio settings to hide the background on mobile.

• Looked through Wix support articles and forum discussions but couldn’t find a solution.

• Tried adjusting layers, z-index, and positioning, but the desktop video remains visible on mobile.

Additional information:

I’m using Wix Studio (not the classic Wix Editor). The issue happens when switching between desktop and mobile views. Any help on how to properly show a separate video background for mobile would be much appreciated!

My suggestion would have been to hide it  - but you mention that’s not showing as an option. Are you able to provide more info about the site structure? Is the video a section background, or a standalone video box?

Screenshots/link to the site are always useful

This issue is when you set the section background as a video.

There is also a new bug where the pause/play button for section video backgrounds appears. It is a new bug as the button has only just started appearing about a week ago.

Now riddle me this, why on earth is Wix prioritising text animations and other useless features over a very basic feature?

We will wait months before this 1 hour fix is implemented.

Hi, @nathanmotyer !!

I heard that the control buttons appearing on the right edge of the background video are not a bug, but an intentional part of the implementation. :upside_down_face:

I assume that, from your point of view, it might have seemed like an unnecessary feature.

I think they mentioned that they would make it possible to choose whether or not to display it, so it might have already been fixed. :thinking:Please check and see. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
