3rd party plug in url redirct issues

Currently i have two plug ins that have url redirects. A sign up form via aweber and a countdown timer. Unfortunately when you use the basic html code box with wix the plug ins do not redirect to a new page but rather that redirect page just shows up in the html box. So the customer stays on the same page with the redirect page only showing up in whatever size the html box was. I was told by wix support to attempt to add the code via wix code instead and hopefully this would be a work around. I am not a coder and need little help with this to see if this is going to work. How do i install the app code in the bottom of the wix code properly?

this is the code im trying to embed -

this is the page im trying to embed it on in the same location that the current version of the plug in is installed on via wix html box. Basically just trying to replace that one with the wix code one to see if it will properly redirect the user to the url page.

thank you

Majorly, you ever figure out anything on this? I’m in the same boat, as I’m trying to use Wix and countdown timers on my site. I’ve tried several different services and none will redirect. Which makes evergreen timers kinda useless. I have countdown dynamite, too.

Man as of now no. I have the developer for the countdown timer i bought working an a new code to force redirect, if that doesnt work i guess im going to have to figure out on my own how to try it in wix code. wix is real dumb for this one as you said this makes countdown timer USELESS if there is no redirect. I bought the one they had on the market and it doesnt even offer url redirect. Makes no sense at all.

Lol, you built your site following marketing manifesto, didn’t you? Just realized you’re selling music…

hahah yea bro. im pissed cuz i got through the WHOLE course and now im literally stuck at this one stupid ass part. lol. so dumb.

Dude, this is exactly the boat I’m in—this is all that’s left for me launching. I’ve tried several online services and nothing redirects. What have you discovered on wix code? I haven’t even heard of it…I’m pretty techy, so we should work together to figure this out

www.scjmusic.com is my site if you wanna check it out. I did mine a little different than John’s, as I’m going to focus on getting fans through live shows and live streaming through twitch and FB live

Your music is awesome, too, man. Much better production than I’ve got going on, too! What player are you using? I couldn’t use Wix’s player b/c I couldn’t remove price, so I resorted to using soundcloud and cutting my tracks to :30 manually, but yours looks much cleaner

im about to run a session with a guy ima get right back toyou when im done bud

Cool. I just fired up Wix code to see what I can figure out. Your music is dope, you’re gonna have no problem selling albums once this stupid problem is resolved.

Hey man thank you i appreciate it ive been at this a long time hopefully getting a solid marketing strategy in place will pay off. There is another company called indepreneur i highly recommend too. So yea i am using wix player im not sure what type of account you have, but you should have the option to choose in your settings for wix music how you want the tracks to play (i.e. stream only, free download or for a set price) for my sales pages i made preview snippets of my album and then set the player to stream only. i purchased wix’s dumb countdown timers and found out neither of them offer a url redirect so i ended up purchasing what mmm recommended (countdown dynamite). Only problem with that is it has to be hosted on an upgraded wordpress account (to be able to install plugins) to get the embed code. Luckily i have a friend whos letting me piggy back bc its like 300 buxs for one of those accounts. So FINALLY i get countdown dynamite installed an lo and behold WIX AGAIINNN screws it up for me lol. Since on wix you have to use the html box to use 3rd party code thats what i had to use for dynamite. The url redirect works but the newly redirected page ONLY POPS UP INSIDE OF THE HTML BOX rather then actually sending the user to a new page hahah…so basically it makes the timer irrelevant AGAIN bc the url redirect is just sitting on a box on the sales page, and the buyer can still purchase. This is where im stuck at as of now. I have the developer from countdown dynamite working on a work around. Im keeping my fingers crossed hell find one and if not what i was saying is that Ill have to try to figure out how to use the embed code from dynamite and put it into wixcode rather than the html box, and hopefully that would open the url redirect onto a new page since the code wouldnt be put into the html box. Clearly wix doesnt care about any of this lol they havent been a help with anything. Youd think adding a url redirect to at least one of their timers would be pretty simple, or getting some sort of support but nada from them…

and i just checked out your page and got your free music. looks good bro im digging the piano remix style you got hahah mario blues brothers yes i love it.

Thanks on the music–hope it doesn’t sound like shit, it’s digital piano and I did all the mixing/mastering and I really don’t know much about production. Just trying to get something recorded and out there. Thanks on the Wix music, I didn’t see that option. May have to upgrade my package. Looks like I did the same as you, decided to build on wix and discovered you can only use countdown dynamite thru wordpress, which costs more money. I bought the stupid wix countdown timer, too. However, it does offer a workaround. You can choose to create a ‘button’-basically just text-but you can link it to another page. Then, when the timer expires you can have it display something, like, ‘sorry promotion is over’. So, they’d have to click twice to get to your promotion, which kinda sucks, but it will work. I’m looking into email countdown timers, too, to see if that’s an option.

Did some research on the wix code and it looks like it’s possible. The problem is that html window doesn’t communicate with the main page. You have to go in and use html commands in wix code to allow them to communicate—then you gotta figure out how to make it redirect when the timer hits 0, so you’d have to muck about in javascript. Coding that’s a bit over my head. Please let me know what the developer for countdown dynamite comes up with.

The only other option I’ve thought of is to find some free webhosting site that will allow you to do redirects and just making my promotion and lto pages there.

Yea i had noticed the button option on the countdown timer thru wix, but if it just pops up as a button rather then opening up a new page wouldnt the buyer just be able to scroll down on that page and still see the pay pal buy links?

Well, you wouldn’t be able to put your paypal links on that page, you’d put them on the page the button links to. You’d have to just kinda have your track preview or maybe just a Click Here for Discount or something. Wouldn’t look very cool, but it would work. For me, since i’ll be pushing ‘warm’ traffic, it isn’t as big a deal, b/c they’d prob still click thru. If you’re straight up using fb ads like John and pushing ‘cold’ traffic, you might lose some sales.

ohhh ok i think i follow. I guess what im wondering though is when the timer expires and the button then says expired or whatever you choose, will it disable that link?

I’m really hoping I can figure out how to do it with email countdown timers. B/c, with the webpage method, it only tracks by IP and cookies, so technically someone could use another device and still reach the page and get the discount(not that I think a lot of ppl would do, but still). But I’ve not figured it out.

Yup, it disables the link, just displays text! So, it will work, we just have to do 2 pages instead of one.

ok got ya. I didnt think about doing it like that but i suppose it could work as a last ditch effort lol but like you said may loose cold traffic…i really hope it gets figured out. but thanks for the insight. also im a mixing/mastering engineer as well so if you need help in future w your projects feel free to get at me. my studio website is www.acdaudio.com

lol so wtf did wix just delete our thread lol

Yeah, I’m prob gonna roll with that option for now, just to finally get this damn site launched! lol, you know what I mean. Thanks on the offer–I’m actually looking at getting the package from Keyscape and using midi to use their samples. It’s like the best damn piano/ep modeling I’ve ever heard! I really don’t have option to record acoustic piano, but I think it will sound great, plus i have the option to edit midi if I have ghost notes or volume issues. Got both your sites bookmarked, glad we sorta got something resolved. Seriously, pls let me know what that developer tells you.
