Address Input not working in Preview (Confirmed BUG, Unfixed after a Month)

Since the recent removal of the need of a separate Google API key to use the address input of Wix, address inputs have become easier to add, but I am having a problem getting it to work properly in preview.

However I’m noticing this bug/issue in preview mode where the API is not connected or some internal error is happening on Wix. The only results that appear on type are ‘There seems to be an error’.

The only changes I’ve made to the base address input element is styling settings. But even without styling the inputs all give this same message in preview.

The element works fine on live, but for testing purposes the only way to test is to publish this element to live without testing. Which defeats the entire purpose of testing.

Anyone know what the cause is or any fixes? I contacted support about it but the offline team has yet to answer my support ticket after almost a week now.

Hi James,
Thanks for letting us know. The team is aware of this issue and is working on a solution. I’ll let you know as soon as I have more information.

Any updates? It’s been almost two weeks and address inputs are still unusable in preview. It’s still not currently possible to test in preview mode since they cannot accept inputs.

@jamesmrobertsonwork I’m sorry for the delay. The bug isn’t resolved yet. I will escalate it again to the team and let you know when there’s a status change.

@marlowe-shaeffer A month later, and no change. Address inputs still do not work in preview mode. This never should have been pushed to live by the team. And it should not take them this long to fix. It makes the input unusable. Still no status change?

@jamesmrobertsonwork I’m sorry I don’t have an update for you yet, but I sent a reminder to the developer. As soon as I have some information I’ll report back. Thanks for your patience.

Hi James,
We will be rolling out a new feature that will resolve this issue. In the meantime, there’s no workaround other than testing in your live site. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, and I will let you know when the new feature is released.

its also happening in LIVE MODE, customers cannot input their address correctly!

ps: signed up for premium business mode and still in TRIAL mode.

@marlowe-shaeffer Hi, the same issue here. I’ve tested it in my live site and the issue persists . Any advice/solution to this pls?

To describe the failed testing scenario:

  1. new member registers

  2. an automatic (Wix-owned) email confirmation request is sent to the new member (reason: the member has already been in site’s contact list, therefore an email confirmation is trigerred automatically by Wix)

  3. new member clicks on an email confirmation link provided in email’s body

  4. after clicking, the new member is redirected to the site, already being logged in

  5. new member tries to fill in member’s profile information (custom form), part of which being the ‘addressInput’ field

  6. ‘addressInput’ field responds with an error message: “There seems to be an error” :frowning:

Thx! r

@rusty The issue in this thread was about AddressInput not working in Preview mode. Please share your code in case there’s a problem causing the error in your live site. Thanks.

@marlowe-shaeffer Hi Marlowe, thanks for your response.

The failing testing scenario is described above. I’m afraid there’s no more code to share from my side (the issue is not js code related).

The ‘addressInput’ field doesn’t work properly in case of the first login of the member . If the member logs out and then logs in again, the input works well.

Therefore I believe the issue is not in my code itself (it stays the same over time), but in fact that the member’s first login was done via Wix-owned confirmation email (as described above in the failed scenario).

I understand this thread was about the issue in preview mode, while I receive the very same error in the live mode - would you like me to open a new thread to deal with this error/bug in Wix’s code?

@rusty No, that’s OK. I’ve shared your issue with the team and will let you know when I hear back.

@rusty The team has been unable to reproduce this issue following the steps you’ve provided. Can you please share the URL for your site?

I’m seeing same error in Preview, live site is ok.

26 MAy 2022 and the bug still here. but one page without bug, another page have a bug… mmmm

Hi!
I’m facing same issue, did you manage to resolve it?
Wix support are awful I can’t get real help there

Hey @Yair_Hazan!

Have you got more info about what you’re experiencing? e.g. a screenshot of the error, the site it’s happening on, any code being used and the steps to reproduce.

If it’s not working in preview and you don’t want to publish to the live site, there is the option of using a test site (more details here), that is closer to the live environment without being live.

Also adding @StudioSpecialist’s if they have any insights
