I have put together a list of features that I would like to see come to the Ascend email marketing tools. Most of these requests, Wix is using them in an unreleased version of Ascend so hopefully, we will see these become public. If anyone else has anything else they would like to add, please comment on this!
Feature Requests:
Background Colors:
We should be able to add background colors to individual sections of an email rather than the entire email background. This would be beneficial to highlight specific sections or make entire sections transparent.
Custom Footer:
The footer being restricted to only the options Wix deems fit for a footer is frustrating. We can make a custom footer by turning everything off and adding our own design however this leaves a space at the bottom of the email and does not work as well as it should. We should be able to add anything we want and designate it as a footer.
Fullwidth Option:
We need the capability to utilize fullwidth emails rather than having the email content in one section and then a background color for the remaining area.
No Header:
Similar to the footer, it’s quite frustrating we are basically being told how to construct our emails. Sometimes a header is not necessary because a banner image is the header. The only way to “remove” the header is to delete the text and set the font to the smallest size possible but this leaves unwanted space at the top.
Logo Padding:
We need to be able to add padding to a logo when the background option is turned on. When it gets turned on, the logo moves position, touching the corner with no spacing separating it.
Email Example:
Here is an example of a marketing email Wix sent that was utilizing most of these requests and my attempt at remaking it. I was able to cheat the system by setting the background to the blue color and then using an the image to have a half blue half white background to make it seem like it had different colored sections but the issue with this was that if I wanted the rest of the email to be white, that was no longer possible.

Problems I ran into:

Not able to put items aside from a logo above the header

Cant change the background color of different sections, only the main background color

Wix’s email is able to utilize the full screen unlike Ascend (Purple area is the secondary background color but Wix’s email is able to utilize that space to make a “full width” style email)

Footer cannot be customized with any item. Only workaround is to turn the footer off and create a custom footer but this leaves a large awkward space at the bottom.

Logo is quite large, no matter the size. I always struggle with this and the logo used was saved directly from Wix’s email and set to small which made no change when coming from medium or large.
