Building a site for a church right now as well and disappointed this wasn’t an option! Great to find this thread. Is there a feature we can vote on so we get notified as soon as this becomes available?

Ready to take it to the next level? How about the ability to use a dataset as a source for a group of videos (or a video channel). Then we could have a dynamic item page and be able to show all of the related videos for each different item. Super aWesome Wix Wonderfulness!!! I can’t wait. Can you make it so?
I am trying to build a podcast website for a client. All I need is to be able add audio files to a database for a dynamic page, just like I can with images and video.
When will this feature be available?
Is their any workaround?
I was thinking that I might be able to link a html widget but no luck so far…

Yes @mdp ! This is almost exactly what I would like to accomplish. And then also have a reference database of audio files that connect to the videos/groups.

The component is still being finalized, we are working on the first version of the API and hope to have it available very soon. I will come and update this thread as soon as it is available.

Thanks Rob, any ideas as yet when this will be available. Have been having long conversations with support there as to if this will ever be an option.
It would also be fantastic to have a direct download option of the audio file on the repeater as well.
Also I would really like to have a shortlist, or favourites option, for the different audio files to be then download as a group.

I am happy to let you know that our new API and component are now live!

This works with the new single track audio component you get from the add panel.
You can assign audio from your media manager, or from an external source - a hosted mp3 file, or radio live stream.
This will not work for soundcloud or spotify or any services like that, this is strictly playing an mp3.
We will be expanding the features and functionality in the future. I hope you enjoy our first version.

When I saw this notification I may have let out a squeal of delight, to which my boyfriend ran into the room and said, “What happened!?” To which I replied, “Wix came out with a new code friendly audio component and api!!” To which he laughed, and said, “okayyy, then” and walked away.
What I am trying to say is - I’m super excited!!!
Can’t wait to try this out with Dynamic Pages.

Mmm, this does not seem to be working for me Rob.
If I add an audio player from the Add panel, none of them give me the option to link data, like the image and text panels do. Would there be something that I am missing?
Hey @jasonmurphy The DB Connection is still not open, it should be available very shortly. I came here just to announce the API itself. We should have DB Connection open ASAP though. I will be sure to return here to let you guys know when it is available.

It looks like I’m no longer able to access the design menu in the editor for the mini player (the one found in the Wix Apps menu as “Audio Player Button”).
Is this related to rollout of the new audio API?
I’d just use the current audio player in the “Add > Music” menu, but it’s not resizable and so unusable for me.

I’m in the same boat as OP and sell sounds to people online.
Because Wix don’t currently have this feature, similar to the OP I’ve had to produce a page for each new product and as my itinerary of products has grown it’s made digital inventory navigation and upkeep a huge task. Not only that but I’m pretty convinced it’s also served to make the site sluggish and resource hungry due to the requirement of duplicated pages and media across the site.
It’s been a big barrier to being able to grow my online business and I have plans for additional product lines I have had to hold off until this functionality becomes available.
I’ve been a paid subscriber for a number of years and run 4 different premium plans with you so would really appreciate a customer focussed approach on this requirement many of us have.

The API is functional, and the audio data type is live. I hope to have data binding for the component open very soon, we’re working on some small fixes this week.
I will definitely update when it is ready.
