Beta Opened: View & Download PDF Files via Domain on Wix

This is good. I know a few places I’m going to use this on some previous work that could use it.

@aviranm awesome, well done team!

Using this! Thanks for the update. Let us know when it comes out of beta.

@aviranm . Hey, hope you are doing well.

Do you know when it will be default using our own domain for PDF? When is this going to happen? Can I early test anything?

Also, for the current file path https://4c5df033-ae8c-4a3b-8839-c0928327221a.filesusr.com/ugd/11f076_262b8693fb22463b9ff1faae27222daa.pdf

Is there a way to add anything to force download these paths also? The query doesn’t work by adding ?download to this url…

Really need a solution.

Is this available for Editor X as well?

The feature is already rolling out gradually (I don’t have an exact ETA for rollout completion)

There is no support to force download from fileusr.com domain, this is only supported from the premium domain (there are different systems involved in the download flow and http header manipulation)

Yes, it is also supported by EditorX

Is there anyway you can switch it on for my site?

@roberthamilton Can’t promise, but I will check with the dev team

@roberthamilton We currently stopped the rollout due to a bug we found, it should be fixed and complete the rollout in a couple of weeks

I’m happy to announce that the feature has completed the rollout and everyone should have this

How do I action this for a client? The link for their PDF downloads is still download-files.wixmp.com/ etc as of this morning, so it doesn’t appear to be an automated rollout, unless I’m misunderstanding something. All of their blogs are a short blurb followed by a pdf download button that goes directly to the file and their Google rankings have plummeted since moving to Wix as none of these pdfs are indexed as site content. Would love to correct this.

Do you have to re upload the document?

@shane You don’t need to upload again, it will automatically convert the link of your pdf documents to the domain.
Remember, this is a premium domain feature only. It will not work on a non premium sites and sites that are not connected to a domain

Links inside blog are currently not supported, only links that you directly link from the Wix Editor are supported

Thanks for explaining that @aviranm I’ve had my client pull all content out of the pdfs and add it to the page to help with the issue. It would be best of course if they had the benefit of both the content and the pdf, though now it would be duplicate content of a sort.

Hi Aviran, Hope all is well. Im finding that the documents are not yet doing this automatically and I’m still doing manually. Is there something that should be switched on at my end? These are regular media pdf uploads by the way.

Same here Lorraine.

Same. Although I’m pretty sure it was doing it correctly for a few days for me

Ok so not just me. Not going completely mad Noah and Robert
