Why are my links no longer opening in a new page

My links to PDFs when clicked used to open up a new page. This option is no longer available when I open the link option. Now they just download. This is not condusive to what I need it to do for my clients.
Is this just yet another horrible decision by Wix to screw everyone or have they moved this option somewhere else?
I don’t know why companies have to keep being so shady and mess with things constantly.

Hi, @Jef_Wassom !!

By the way, where exactly was that link set up, and what steps were taken to configure it? As a test, I placed a button element on the page and linked it to the URL of a PDF file stored in the Media Manager, set to open in a new page. When I clicked it, the PDF did open in a new page. :slightly_smiling_face:

Yes, this is the way to do it. Link to the URL, set to open new page.

I am not using a button element. I placed a link in the text, which used to open and allow me to set it to open a new page. Just so happens this month, I needed to re-do a link and that option is no longer available. All the text links I had now just download the document and there is no option to set it to open a new page. It completely disappeared. I don’t want a bunch of text boxes or elements on my page, as I’m trying to keep it clean, but I guess Wix is going down the crapfest.

Based on my testing, I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue, since the PDF links embedded in the text opened in a new tab without any problem. If you could provide more detailed steps, the Wix team might be able to look into it for you. For reference, I tested this in both Chrome and Safari.

I guess it’s a computer issue then. Had a friend try it, and it opens a new tab.Was working for me a few weeks ago. It’s frustrating for lame people like me to try and figure this stuff out that just all of a sudden quits working. It’s send me into anxiety and anger.

I think the issue is not so much with the computer itself, but rather with the browser installed on it. If you’re using something like Google Chrome, try updating it to the latest version. The way Wix features work can vary slightly depending on the browser being used. Since the features Wix promotes are generally designed with the latest browsers in mind, this isn’t a fault of Wix specifically—it’s the same with virtually every internet service, and it’s something unavoidable.

We essentially access the internet through browsers, so if the browser is different, the way the online world appears will also differ. That’s why, as a general rule, you’ll need to ask your users to update to the latest browsers that Wix supports. You can refer to the following link for Wix’s list of supported browsers and operating systems! :raising_hands:

As mentioned, I suspect this to be a browser behaviour, rather than a change Wix has made. There are various factors that contribute to it - browser, browser settings, extensions you may have installed etc
