Can you add HTML (images) to a text/rich text collection field?

I am building this website and going dynamic to avoid the static page limit:

Very simply question: how can I add pictures to the text content? I tried putting in HTML code but it does not render and just shows the code. It does this when the field type is set to Text and the same happens when set to Rich Text. So how can I add images/tables/etc to the text that is coming from the database? I know I can create an Image field and store an image there but I need to be able to just add images to the main content in different locations. Should have a very simple answer to this I hope…

Can someone please answer this question. I did my research but not getting anywhere. Do I need to set the text element property to HTML? If so, how do I do that?
