Cannot save if HTML embed is present

Question:
Wix editor will not save or publish website if an HTML embed is present.

Product:
Wix editor

What are you trying to achieve:
I am trying to add a simple css animated carousel. IE: Using css to make images rotate in a circle. But if I add the html element, the site refuses to save or publish and just says “we are having technical difficulties”

What have you already tried:
Deleting the element makes it save and publish normally. Adding an HTML element makes it not save or publish anymore.

Additional information:
I have no other information to add other than I sincerely hope this can be fixed, is it a bug? Is this how I report that if so? Css animations are important to me and I would love to be able to have them on a specific page.

Hi, @zachsanomaly !!

That’s an issue I’ve never heard of before. It’s highly unlikely that the code itself would directly affect the behavior of HTML elements, so there’s a chance it could be a broader issue with Wix. However, it seems a bit more likely that some temporary condition unique to your site is causing the problem. In any case, please don’t worry — this is definitely the right place to ask your question! :raised_hands:

If possible, you could check whether the same issue occurs on other pages, or try duplicating your site to see if the problem also appears on the duplicated version. Another option might be to restore your site from a previous saved version and see if that resolves the issue. Of course, don’t forget to try clearing your browser cache as well.

Eventually, a forum manager will likely come across this topic and provide some guidance, but in the meantime, trying the suggestions above could help you narrow down the cause.

Turn on coding and preview the site, see if it shows any errors in the dev console.

Thank you for your reply, it might have been a glitch because I gave it a day or so and nothing is happening anything like that now; html elements work fine. Very odd. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again!

I’m glad to hear that the issue seems to be resolved—although I’m not entirely sure if “glad” is the right word to use here. If there hadn’t been any response from the manager, I was starting to think I might need to message the forum manager directly, but for now, I’m relieved that things have settled down.

Honestly, strange bugs like this do sometimes happen when using Wix. But that’s not something unique to Wix—it’s a reality of working with systems in general. There are times when unexplained issues arise and then mysteriously resolve themselves without us ever understanding why. :upside_down_face: Still, I believe there’s always some kind of cause behind them.

For instance, my Panasonic HDD recorder at home recently started freezing every time I tried to delete a recorded program. It’s only been about a year since I bought it. :innocent: And every time it freezes, I have to hold down the power button to force a reboot—an annoying new “feature,” if you will. And yes, again, it’s only been a year! :innocent:

But then I realized something … it only happens when I try to delete a program while another is recording. And it turns out, I’ve already managed to fill the 2TB HDD to the brim in that one year :innocent: (by the way, my room has been a mess all year too). So now, I only delete things when the recorder isn’t busy, taking it slow and being careful not to overload it. Since then, it hasn’t frozen once.

When we encounter system issues like this, we tend to immediately blame the manufacturer side and call it a bug. But any system can break down under temporary overload. And I do think that machines, in their own way, have good days and bad days—like us. That’s why things like this can happen from time to time.

Whether or not you call that a “bug” is probably a matter of personal or philosophical belief. Of course, if it turns out that something on Wix’s end is causing ( some overloads ? ), it’s definitely something worth investigating. But if the issue cleared up in just one day, I personally wouldn’t dwell on it too much and would just go back to work. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Anyway, I’m glad it seems to have resolved itself—though I didn’t do anything
