Can't get past bugs...worth it to pay someone?

I think this platform does what I want, but every time I get about an hour into configuring it, some major glitch happens and I lose all my work. The first time, I changed the name and address of the website and then the website stopped saving my changes (without telling me, no way to revert). I started over, and re-added everything, including the blog, and now the blog doesn’t display and the blog options don’t load anymore on the editor. I’ll try this again I think but I’ve already put enough time into it. Is it worth it to pay someone? I just need a simple page and I actually know how to do it, but I can’t get past this nightmare of glitches and bugs.

I just started over and it adds the blog and none of the default posts are showing up, none of the blog functions appear on the website. I just get a frame that says Blog in the corner with no functions…

Ok, I just went back to the Wix editor and tried to add the blog, and it adds the blog apparently, but I still don’t see any blog functions on the website and when I go to configure the blog, it says to return to the editor and add the blog to the website - which I just did.

Is something broken on the platform or something?

Am I doing something wrong? Or is the website broken?

@unopenedparachute You appear to be using two different editors. One of your screenshots shows the Wix editor, the other shows the Editor X editor. Since any single site must be EITHER Wix OR Editor X, those two screenshots are from two different websites – one using the old Wix platform and the other using the new Editor X platform.

It therefore makes sense that work you do in one of the editors won’t show up in the other. You are looking at two completely different sites.

Or have I missed the point and are you just trying to show that it didn’t work for you on either platform?

are you just trying to show that it didn’t work for you on either platform?

this.

Also both screenshots are from newly created websites where adding the blog was the only thing I did. Then I went into settings for the frame that showed up, and that’s what I got on both platforms.

So you’ve reached the point where the blog page has been created, but when you select ‘Settings’ from the context menu, the settings dialog remains blank, as in your two screenshots. Is that right?

As opposed to this, where it shows a bunch of settings options (and where I’ve got example posts on the page).

Hmmm. And did this happen immediately? I mean, you added the blog and this is what you got? Or did it work initially and then disappear?

That’s it, made a new site, added the blog, and this is what I got immediately.

Or did it work initially and then disappear?
It worked before on a website I was trying to create but eventually I couldn’t do anything with it, I thought I’d done something wrong.

It shouldn’t do that, in either case, and I’ve not seen it happen. This might be an issue for Wix support.

Thanks, I guess I’ll wait a while and see if it fixes itself and then talk to them.

One other thing… What browser are you using? I’ve had better luck with Chrome-based browsers (Chrome, Brave) than with Safari. (To be fair, that dates back a while, but for a problem I’ve since forgotten, Wix support suggested switching to Chrome).

I’m in Chrome. And it came back, now I can’t figure out how to make the background of the blog itself any color except white.

In your screenshot, you’ve selected the Section over in the sidebar. Notice that the enclosing element is ‘Page’. Select ‘Page’ and you can then access design specs for the page background.

Found that one…but I’ve still got that white part.

Good try though, the page background was still white.

Ah, ok. How about this: In Post Settings, you’ll find a Design section. I think it’s the post area background you’re trying to set.

And yes, this could be a bit better organized, couldn’t it?

@unopenedparachute : Odd, the posts seem out of order above. I want to be sure you saw my latest, pointing out the ‘post area background’ setting.

Got that one too. Yes, I’ve been struggling, thanks for the help…

@unopenedparachute . In your screenshot, you’re showing the ‘post background’ setting. There’s another, if you scroll down, called ‘post area background’. That may be the one you’re still missing.

I just noticed we’re on different dialogs, so it may not appear where you’re looking.

But you seem to have it figured out. It’s just a matter of finding the settings, which are a bit scattered. Good luck.
