Issue CMS field types used to be changeable. Now that’s stopped
Feature request please bring this back
Why was this stopped? This was such a useful feature, but now you have to create another field from scratch, transfer all the data across fields, it may also pose risks of losing connections those fields had with multiple datasets and pages that have been long established & spread across the site
Hey @Gideon_Skarzgard - this is an expected change, although I understand the importance this feature had for you 
I’ve seen similar feedback recently and have shared this with the team. Will keep you updated if anything changes 
What was the reasoning for removing this feature? It was extremely helpful to be able to edit field types.
NOTE: If your site is multilingual you cannot reorder fields in the Multilingual section of the dashboard so they will appear in the order they’ve been created. This means if I’ve made a mistake in my collection I have to delete the collection and reimport to have fields in the desired order which is inconvenient.

We heard the feedback on this and reverted the change - you can go ahead and convert the field types once again 
There are some exceptions, and this feature will remain unavailable for:
The primary field
Collections that are opted in to Multilingual translations
