I received an email from Wix to take a survey about the possibility of a co-branded dashboard that would have our personal branding alongside of Wix’s. The survey consisted of two questions and a comment field. Question 1: Would you be willing to pay $200 per month for this feature? Question 2: Would you be willing to pay $50 per month for this feature?
I LOVE the idea of a co-branded dashboard, but have thoughts about the survey questions. I’d be interested to hear what you other Wix Partners think?

Sounds pretty neat doesn’t it?
Not a fan, really. If a dashboard has an agency’s branding on it, the agency would appear to be responsible for even more of the site’s performance and operation than they actually are. So when wix has a glitch (which happens with some regularity) it could appear to a client as though a designer is responsible for an issue they have nothing to do with.
In my opinion, it’s a concept that leaves designers in a place where they are unable to meet expectations.
Shannon, I think overall it’s a great idea, but the overall proposed pricing is too high. Already there are client and project management applications that provide so many tools—for $30 per month or less. Perhaps bundling this white labeled dashboard and apps with a Wix Answers account would add value.
IT might - It’s just a discussion at this point. Feedback is huge - so thanks for providing some!
I’m on the fence about this.
Positives:
Negatives:
Not a fan with the current situation of Wix “Partners” since it is not a partnership in any way, shape or form. In fact, the agreement literally states, we are not “partners” moving forward .
With that said, I adore Wix, this platform, the community within, etc but why would I pay to allow Wix to advertise to the clientele I’ve built over the years (not from the Arena) and many whom I’ve convinced to leave other platforms when Wix will not back me with client related problems such as non-payment, the bane of many independent contractors?
So slap your name next to mine on a co-branded site, pay $200 for name recognition and we will pretend you don’t exist when things get tough because we aren’t REALLY partners, we just want to be branded on your websites on your dime…beyond what we already charge you for premium plans? So make that how much a year?
I laughed so hard at the audacity of the suggestion. There is NO upside for the Partner. You get to say you “partner” with Wix now any way you want on your site.
Maybe if there was some kind of genuine tradeoff, I’d consider it but I think since I bring in new business, keep my clients continuously enrolled in web-hosting plans, I think Wix is pretty lucky I keep their hyperlink on my sites. That is the most even exchange my business-mind can fathom.
…pay them to advertise on my sites…that’s a good one.
I agree with Jen and Heath, I do not see the value in paying for this truthfully. It will not change the conversation I need to have with my clients about wix and our agency “design platform / designer convo”, does not change how much more money our agency will make (let’s be real here, both of us (wix/my agency) are here to make money, client’s will calls us because they trust us, I compensate myself back for dealing with these by reselling a much higher premium plan and hunting for wix specials so I can make my money back. I feel wix needs to create something that is agency sustainable. Wix, agencies and customers need each other to create the end result which is the work the paying client needs. I think a partnership should be fair all around and everyone should benefit from it not just wix, the client, or the agency.
The more I have thought about it, the less I think a co-branded dashboard will benefit me in any real tangible way. If Wix were offering an entirely white label solution, then that would be something to consider (pros and cons), but to be co-branded doesn’t really seem to offer any practical benefit.
Unless my clients specifically ask (surprisingly, most don’t), they don’t know the platform I’m building their site on. It’s not until after we go live and I then add them as a contributor and walk them through some of the maintenance items do they realize it’s Wix and by then they’re sold.
This is a bit hard to say, but people still associate Wix with “cheap” DIY template sites. The handful of times I have told clients that I’m building on Wix, I’ve had to spend time trying to convince them that Wix is robust platform.
Having said that, one thing that would be a nice perk of being a partner is to have my preview sites branded with my logo. (Currently, it’s not branded at all and it would be quite problematic for me if it were branded with Wix in any way).
I think the real answer is… what is the real definition of a “partner”… in my business we offer partner, reseller, affiliate. difference is… partner is branded as a person that uses our brand and has the ultimate benefit, reseller is a whitelabel solution for companies that need to reselll our service under their brand, affiliate Are people that refer my company and get a simple commission for a deal closed from a refferal.
