So, let’s say I have a container that is 500px wide and 200px tall; then I put a text box inside of it that is 100px wide and 50px tall. I used to able to shrink the container and it would hug whatever was inside it and never get smaller than said item. Now, if I set the container to, lets say, 50 px wide, instead of it going to 100 to hug the item, it will truly go to 50px and not size properly. What changed?
Hi, Tyler_Mayfield !!
Is this phenomenon happening in the Wix standard editor, or is it happening in the Wix Studio editor? Also, is it occurring in the editor itself or on the live site? If possible, uploading an image to explain the issue would help the community members better understand and solve the problem.
It’s happening on the Wix Studio editor. As you can see, it wont get smaller vertically than the text box & margin, but horizontally, it will go past the text item (yellow) inside the container(blue).
Hi, Tyler !
Is this an image from your live site?
By the way, how does it look in the Wix Studio editor?
Does the same happen with text elements that are smaller than “Heading1”?
This is in the editor! It does the same when i publish it to the live site. And yes, it happens with all elements. I used to be able to set the padding to say 10px on all 4 sides, then put the text or whatever in the top right corner, set the width and height of the container to 0 and it would shrink to the minimum size of item + padding. Now, its going beyond that and has no limit to how small in width it can get.
I see. If it happens with all elements (not just text), then that’s a strange phenomenon. Does the same issue occur if you create a different site and try the same thing? At this point, I can’t confirm, but it might be an issue that can’t be addressed in this forum. If that’s the case, it would need to go to Wix support. A few years ago, I experienced a similar phenomenon in the Wix standard editor where elements on the live site became extremely narrow or small. For some reason, it eventually stopped happening over time, but I did report it to Wix support. Based on my experience, such strange phenomena occasionally occur with Wix. However, even if you contact Wix support through normal channels, they often don’t treat it as a serious issue. So, it might be a good idea to have other veteran community members examine the problem here, and if it turns out to be a bug, you can report it to Noah Lovell, the manager of this community.
In my experience, the phenomenon of elements becoming smaller is likely a bug. However, since Wix Studio allows for various settings to be changed, I think it’s too early to make a definitive conclusion at this point. It would be helpful to check whether the same phenomenon can be reproduced on other browsers or PCs for further validation of the issue.
I have exactly the same Issue - Text boxes and galleries are not sensible resizing - its a basic fundamental - and its basically ruining all my layouts as they jump/moveabout between editing and preview, and even worse, they don’t even go back into place after preview in edit mode… its like juggling slippy eels, and causing frustrating rework…not happy - my deadlines passed - & I look to be at fault - but only thing I am going to try is to lock everything down I can.
I’m using an MSI Laptop. Win 11. btw
