Convoluted Members Profile ISSUE :(

How do I display member specific data on member profiles?

I’m using Wix members area on Wix Editor.

I am trying to set up member profiles on a website, kind of like rap genius, displaying the contributions they have made in a dataset on another page. I want this to be displayed on their profile.

I have hidden the profile section on the profile page, and tried to link the dataset to the repeater on this page.

But it only shows the data inputted by the user as I have used the filter “logged in user” only. I have also tried creating a profile page dynamically, but I’m facing the same issue, it’s showing the data from the logged in user only. Also, I want the profile to be linked to my blog so that when their profile is clicked on, their profile with contributions show up.

I’ve been trying to figure this out for weeks, looked at multiple posts on this forum pertaining to my issue, but I find they get half answered, then there’s no follow up e.g.Display Member Data in Custom Member Profile from Database - #4 by ryanwilliams. I have also tried multiple tutorials, but I find myself back to my initial issue as I use the members dataset. I’m worried that if I’m not able to find a solution, I might just have to remove the members area, which would be hugely unfortunate, as it’s a big part of the site.

Please help if you can.

Thanks

Creating a Dynamic Member page can quite technical and often depends on the structure of the database and how data is stored. It is also dependent on how data is added to the database.

Are you (as site Owner) adding data to the collection? Or are user doing this themselves? Are they doing it through a form, or another method?

While I know of a solution that is no-code using datasets, it does rely on the collection being structured in a specific way, and is best suited to the style of member area where the site Owner is adding data to a members account.

Other than that, it can get a little involved with adding code and ensuring best security practices are used to show the correct info to users.

Have you tried following this as a starting point - Building Your Own Members Area

Hi,

Thanks for your response, they’re doing it themselves through a form which gets saved in a separate dataset from their private members data.

I’ve tried all types of solutions but always seem to route back to my initial problem of users profiles being clicked on from blog comments and being linked to the profile displaying logged in submissions and not the data of the profile user.

Do let me know if you have any ideas!!

Thank you
