Copy Live content to Sandbox?

You can sync your sandbox collections to live, but not the other way around. This seems problematic because your sandbox can get out of sync with live through testing, but you don’t want to sync that test content to the live site. You want to get your sandbox back in line with what’s at the live site at some point, but I don’t see a way to do that. Is there? If not, what am I missing in this workflow?

Sure you can sync the other way around.

How? I don’t see an option to do that. The only options I see are 1. Edit Live, 2. Edit Sandbox, 3. Sync Sandbox to Live. There is no Sync Live to Sandbox that I can find.

UPDATE: See my response below how to get to it.

Go to the live collection and there you have a “Sync Live Items to Sandbox” button.

@jonatandor35
Syncing also possible to be done by code?

@russian-dima No.

@jonatandor35 Found it. You have to be in the sandbox, select “Live” from the dropdown, then the button appears. Ugh, terrible. Thanks.

You’re welcome :slight_smile:

So there is still an issue. Backoffice roles don’t have access to the sandbox. Their edits go directly to Live. This seems backwards. They are probably less experienced than editors, so they should be able to preview their content before it goes directly to the live site more than the editors. What am I missing?

@tim15312 afaik the sandbox collection is only available via the editor and meant to be used for development purposes (the sandbox data is used when you use the editor preview mode).

@jonatandor35 My original reply got lost - Wix having server issues?

Content creators need a sandbox for their content. Having them essentially editing directly in live makes them more dangerous than editors, when in fact they are less experienced, raising the danger of messing up even more. This is a big missing feature IMO.
