Hi, if I want to create another dynamic page, I don’t want to design the layout each and everytime new. So it would be nice to just copy paste another dynamic site just like a menu page. Is there a way to do this? Thank you all!
Hi Darius! Did you solve it, i have the same problem!
Would be nice to get some help with this question. I’m running into the same issue.
What is a → DYNAMIC-PAGE?
Your dynamic page do just exists inside your database, or to be more precise → it is your → CONTENT, which do fill your PAGE with DATA/VALUES.
Every single row inside your DATABASE, which is connected trough a DATASET with your DYNAMIC-PAGE (which is just a → Layout-Mask), is equal a new → DYNAMIC-PAGE.
So what was the question? → How to generate a new dynamic page, without to recreate/redesign your page again and again?
Answer: → Just add new row of data inside your DATABASE and you will get a new dynamic page.
I have a dynamic page where the data is connected by three fields. I need a new dynamic page which connects to the same index table by four fields. I don’t want to have to rebuild an identical page, just to get the data to connect differently. Adding a new row to the database won’t change how the data is connected to the second dynamic page.
In other words, I want a copy of the template of the dynamic page and there is no way to do that currently in Wix. If the functionality doesn’t exist, it should. We can create duplicates of plain pages.
If wix do not offer this option → then your only way will be to code it.
We should be able to duplicate the template for the dynamic page. It doesn’t require coding.
Hi. If you want to duplicate a dynamic page, you can click on the page, then click “remove all connections”, then duplicate it.
You will have to connect certain elements again, and turn it back into a dynamic page. But as you only have 3 connected fields, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Hope this helps,
Alex
@alexobc I can see how that would work. I’ll give it a try!
Thank you!!
@mtnerd
Step 1
Remove connections and the dynamic page will be moved to the main pages.
Step 2
Then click more button and copy the page.
Step 3
Click undo - the page will be back into the dynamic page.
Step 4
Now paste the copied page in main page.
You don’t need to connect the elements again to the dynamic dataset. I think this saves the time & effort.
@workiapps Thank you!! I appreciate your advice and details! I’ll work on it in the morning and let you know how when it works.
Thank you Alex and Aajeet! That worked and it took a lot less time than reconstructing all the labels and fields on the page. It’s been a while since I constructed a dynamic page and I forgot I have to reconnect each field shown on the page, not just the links from the index page. But once I remembered that piece, it only took a few minutes.
I REALLY appreciate your help on this. Cheers!!
