Critical bug using SEO on Dynamic Pages not solved for 4 months and today solved in 4 hours!

Hey there Wix Code team!
I am trying to help a client of mine getting their Dynamic Pages shown and indexed correctly on Google. I was certain that the client did something wrong and the Wix Support team have told this client of mine different reasons for the last 4 months. Now this client is going back to WordPress to get the SEO and I just hate when people are talking about going back to WordPress for reasons like this.

So I started to investigate this and the last message from the Wix Support was that there must be some error in the code of the site. But there is no code to set the SEO of Dynamic Pages so this has to be a bug. I have sent emails directly to the team but was asked to post it here. So now I post it here and pray that someone on the teams will make this work faster than the sun sets today or I will loose a client to the competitor I try to outrun  Or should I try to look at it deeper and see if the Wix General Support Team missed something?

Page Settings for the Dynamic Pages

I then run the info: usage on Google to check one item from the Dynamic Pages and get the below result.

That shows the site SEO settings and not the settings done for the Dynamic Page.

I then use View Source on the Dynamic Page to inspect what exactly is produced here from the Wix platform and here I get kind of certain this is a bug and that my client has gotten false and wrong information from the Wix Support for months and have spent a lot of time trying to understand what they did wrong instead of getting help running his business.

In the View Source it is obvious that the Wix Dynamic Page does not produce the SEO that they setup in the Page Settings on the Dynamic Pages.

It is also missing the page title element as I can’t find that meta tag at all. No wonder Google redirects him stating that this is not a Google problem but a Wix problem.

------ NEW TESTING
So I went to one site of my own, wixshow.com and tested this on the Dynamic Pages Code Library that I have and here it seem to work?

Above I just changed the settings according to this test and published the site again and then when I reload that Dynamic Page and View Source I get the below.

All the meta tags are working as they should and gets indexed accordingly. So now my brain is not feeling good. Do we have some hidden error on one site that does not work but when I and others try this it works?

So lastly I thought that maybe there is something after all about the SEO setup of Dynamic Pages that just don’t work inside the platform. So I decided to change the keyword field to another field instead of using the {Title} so I did and then it all worked???

So it seem that Wix Dynamic Pages does not allow us to use the {Title} value in the Keywords fields under SEO for Dynamic Pages. So I thought that this can’t be true, because if that is the case Wix platform should not allow users to use that field in that property.

So I changed the keywords to {Title} on wixshow.com and published the site and then it did break exactly as the client site have been for around 4-5 months.

I think it is extremely good that I could solve this for my client in 4 hours of detective work. I do think that the support he got from the general Wix Support own this client the largest apologie and probably a 2-year free premium whatever package he wants. His business has not been indexed and has lost traffic for more than 4 months and the Wix Support has sent him all kinds of strange answers and ways to get rid of this issue. Then I look at it, finds the error and solves it after 4 hours of work? Something needs to be replaced on first line support regarding Wix Code, this is not ok.

So solution: DO NOT USER {Title} in the Keywords Property Field on Dynamic Pages in Wix Code, it will break and destroy your SEO Meta Tags.

Have had the same problem. Working on it now, thanks.

Hi Andreas.

Sorry to hear about that embarrassing issue you and your client had to face with.

We appreciate your very detailed explanation of the matter and the time you spent on investigation - this really helped us to identify the root cause of the problem much quicker.

I’ve made some additional checks today with our SEO Wix experts and we registered a bug.

Will keep you updated about the status.

Regards, Aleksander from Wix Code team

Hi @andreas-kviby , thank you for helping me solve this long term issue.

I have been in touch with the support team who once again, seem not to be accepting that the issue isn’t as serious as I tried to outline in my official complaint. I was offered 50% off my next subscription. Whilst writing the email, I filtered through all of my previous emails and it turns out it was 7 months ago I first noticed an issue and raised this with Wix. I expect this has been longer, expecting that it has been since I first started using Wix code.

Thank you once again and to all the team on here for all of your help.

Best wishes

Stephen

Hi @andreas-kviby

A small update about this issue.

We would like to further investigate. Please provide wixpromote@wix.com with viewing permissions to your Google Search Console. Please see here how to do it: Managing owners, users, and permissions - Search Console Help
Once access has been granted, please respond to this message and let us know.

Regards, Aleksander

Done I think for the wixshow.com to try on

@andreas-kviby Wow! That was really quick, thank you!
If we are talking about wixshow.com website, could you please specify which page had the same issue as https://www.scottishrockandwater.com/Courses/Winter%20Skills/North%20West%20Winter%20Summits , mentioned in your initial message?

Regards, Aleksander

Update: we wasn’t able to reproduce the issue on wixshow.com site. Waiting for shared access to Google Search Console for site in the initial message.

@andreas-kviby please let me know if you manage to provide wixpromote@wix.com with viewing permissions to the site. Thank you.

@aleksander-denga I think you need access to my google search console, it was my site that @andreas-kviby investigated and solved the issue. You shouls have permissions from previous investigation by wix, I have just checked and wixpromote@wix.com has full access

Let me know if I need to resubmit your email address

@stephenmccall @andreas-kviby Hi. Wanted to let you know that we have all the data needed to proceed with investigation of the issue. I will keep you updated about the status. Thanks!

@aleksander-denga is there any development with this yet? The issue seems to be happening again… words can’t describe how frustrating this is!!

Hi @stephenmccall

I’m sorry to hear about inconvenience you’re experiencing. At the moment, there is no solution yet, but I can assure you that we are working on it. This issue is quite tricky, because it doesn’t happen all the time. I would be glad to bring you good news once we’ve got the solution.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

@aleksander-denga Thank you for your response. And I appreciate that these issues can be hard to diagnose and rectify. The problem I have is that this is my livelihood, and I have chosen Wix to provide me with the platform on which to showcase what I offer. You guys do a great job and I love the platform, but ultimately I have lost money last year with 7 months with this issue, @andreas-kviby solved the last problem and enquiries, bookings and income went back up, now I’m back to the original issue ultimately losing more money, so I have a decision to make, do I need to change platform? can you give me a time frame? or can we sort this by some other means?

Regards
Stephen

@stephenmccall I understand that this is very important for you and must assure you that the fact that this issue still was not fixed is also frustrating for us. I’d love to give you clear timeframe on when this will be solved, but I don’t know this for now and hope very much to provide you with more definite information soon

Thank you for understanding
Regards, Aleksander

Hi. Wanted to give you a short update.

This week there were a couple of changes made to improve the situation.
Still, we are trying to found better solution, which might take some time.

Once again, sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
Regards, Aleksander

Hi @aleksander-denga , thank you for the update. Much appreciated

Stephen

Hi @aleksander-denga , is there any further development with this yet?
Best wishes, Stephen

Hi @stephenmccall .

Yes, indeed. Wix’s main focus during last months was to improve live sites performance as much as possible. You can see results of these efforts in this thread https://www.wix.com/code/home/forum/wix-tips-and-updates/wix-turbo-update

Eventually, it should also improve situation with performance of live sites SEO versions.

Regards, Aleksander

Hey @hello44 are you still available to look at something for me? I have another issue that Wix won’t accept anything is wrong after two Wix professionals checking the code? Or can @aleksander-denga help?

Hi. If this is a different issue, please use a new thread and give as much details as possible (scenario, code examples, link to page, screenshots/video).
Thank you
