Hey there Wix Code team!
I am trying to help a client of mine getting their Dynamic Pages shown and indexed correctly on Google. I was certain that the client did something wrong and the Wix Support team have told this client of mine different reasons for the last 4 months. Now this client is going back to WordPress to get the SEO and I just hate when people are talking about going back to WordPress for reasons like this.
So I started to investigate this and the last message from the Wix Support was that there must be some error in the code of the site. But there is no code to set the SEO of Dynamic Pages so this has to be a bug. I have sent emails directly to the team but was asked to post it here. So now I post it here and pray that someone on the teams will make this work faster than the sun sets today or I will loose a client to the competitor I try to outrun Or should I try to look at it deeper and see if the Wix General Support Team missed something?
Page Settings for the Dynamic Pages
I then run the info: usage on Google to check one item from the Dynamic Pages and get the below result.
That shows the site SEO settings and not the settings done for the Dynamic Page.
I then use View Source on the Dynamic Page to inspect what exactly is produced here from the Wix platform and here I get kind of certain this is a bug and that my client has gotten false and wrong information from the Wix Support for months and have spent a lot of time trying to understand what they did wrong instead of getting help running his business.
In the View Source it is obvious that the Wix Dynamic Page does not produce the SEO that they setup in the Page Settings on the Dynamic Pages.
It is also missing the page title element as I can’t find that meta tag at all. No wonder Google redirects him stating that this is not a Google problem but a Wix problem.
------ NEW TESTING
So I went to one site of my own, wixshow.com and tested this on the Dynamic Pages Code Library that I have and here it seem to work?
Above I just changed the settings according to this test and published the site again and then when I reload that Dynamic Page and View Source I get the below.
All the meta tags are working as they should and gets indexed accordingly. So now my brain is not feeling good. Do we have some hidden error on one site that does not work but when I and others try this it works?
So lastly I thought that maybe there is something after all about the SEO setup of Dynamic Pages that just don’t work inside the platform. So I decided to change the keyword field to another field instead of using the {Title} so I did and then it all worked???
So it seem that Wix Dynamic Pages does not allow us to use the {Title} value in the Keywords fields under SEO for Dynamic Pages. So I thought that this can’t be true, because if that is the case Wix platform should not allow users to use that field in that property.
So I changed the keywords to {Title} on wixshow.com and published the site and then it did break exactly as the client site have been for around 4-5 months.
I think it is extremely good that I could solve this for my client in 4 hours of detective work. I do think that the support he got from the general Wix Support own this client the largest apologie and probably a 2-year free premium whatever package he wants. His business has not been indexed and has lost traffic for more than 4 months and the Wix Support has sent him all kinds of strange answers and ways to get rid of this issue. Then I look at it, finds the error and solves it after 4 hours of work? Something needs to be replaced on first line support regarding Wix Code, this is not ok.
So solution: DO NOT USER {Title} in the Keywords Property Field on Dynamic Pages in Wix Code, it will break and destroy your SEO Meta Tags.
