Csv import / export

I’m blue, I’m blue …holding my breath for you.

Since Wicx Code for Wix Stores is unavailable still, we have a CSV export dump of our orders from Wix Store and an import of these to an Orders Data Collection. There’s some gotchas we have to correct in excel before creating the Data Collection, but otherwise works fine.
This is a manual batch process and that creates some limitations.
Does anyone know how to automate the export of CSV from Wix Store automatically, triggered, say, on an order being placed?
Thanks so very much,
David

I am in the same situation - I am a premium member, however still not haveing the import/export feature. :frowning:

I’m not having any issue exporting CSV from Wix Store, that part works fine. Also a premium member.

Hristo - I’ve never experienced the Export CV issue others describe.

I posted a YouTube exporting in case something different in my setup that’s helpful.

Hi,

We are leaving Wix as well.
After investing time and efforts to understand how Wix can be utilized to enhance our business, we have come to the conclusion it is not fit for us .

Selecting web-site provider is one of the most important strategic decision businesses make these days. I would suggest you to read the reasons to see you would not have the same issues we bumped with Wix in the near future.

These are the main reasons:

  • Unclear/undefined roadmap - what are the new features to be introduce in the following year (both platform and Wix Code)?

  • Unexpected behavior from supplier - the removal of the CSV import capability without notification nor alternative severely hurt our trust. Product import is basic feature and is one of our requirements from platform

  • Poor performance - Wix is slow (!!!) both in store front and store’s back end

  • Missing basic features for store management - User Roles, Promotions (apply multiple coupons), Shipping management (dynamic calculations per customer, address) and more

  • Store API - The movement to Wix code is great but is use less if you cannot connect to store’s data (manage carts, manage inventory, manage orders etc.)

  • Slow, not clear support for Wix Code

It seems that wix focuses on Creating Stunning Websites with small, if any, extended capabilities for sale.
The e-commerce capabilities are at the level of a first release of an opensource project, which is fine, but the lack of clear roadmap and the feature removals make Wix as un-workable for SMB’s.

Still I would like to note that the Wix’s strength is its HTML editor. and probably would be used to create landing pages for our business.

Roi, appreciate your post. While I can relate to your concerns, I have come to different conclusions. I’m a ecommerce merchant in the B2B space. I’m confidently standing by Wix. I believe they’re onto something big with Wix Code.

My take:

Roadmap: In addition to the “coming soon” page, I’ve found the Wix Experts quite helpful (the freelance developers community). They’re asked to do the alpha testing on a lot of the new features, before they’re released. So, the Experts know what’s in the pipeline.

Unexpected behavior: I believe the CSV import/export feature was temporarily removed because they’re testing the API for Wix Stores. Because I’ve been tipped off by some friendly Experts, I know about that. I’m just guessing but it seems related.

Performance: I’m in New York, USA. Uptime, load time, and support have been on par with other hosting services (Shopify, GoDaddy, AWS). Not sure about performance globally however.

Basic shopping features: From what I can tell, Wix is targeting ecommerce with the Wix Code > Wix Stores integration. So, my assumption is many of the features you list, which we also need, will be available by the end of the year. In the meantime, I’ve been able to find workarounds that are suitable for us.

Store API: This is actively in development. Rumor is some Wix Experts are working with it now.

I sort of consider Wix/Wix Code at this stage to be something like Apple pre-iPhone. I got on the Apple train early. I’m standing by Wix Code, too.

I HAVE A SOLUTION: if you go to your Promote → Marketing Integrations → Facebook Catalogue and download the URL that is provided when you click “Get your data feed” → copy & paste that into your broswer and it will download a .csv file…this is crazy that they took away the feature to all users. Just a work around that’s amazing!

I was able to download the CSV file via Julian Ross method, my question is, if I change the file, how would I back feed it to update my store on WIX? If that is even possible. I want to add a few thousand products to my page, but doing it 1 by 1 is too time consuming.

Hi Howard,

Glad to see my method has its own name

As far as I know you cannot import this feed (or any feed) back into wix. What might be your best shot here is contacting wix telling them that you’d need them to upload a .csv to add product and seeing where that takes you.

Thank you for the response. I talked to them a few times, they put me on the “beta list” so next time they release the CSV option, My site will receive it. This was a month or 2 ago. Very frustrating but WIX otherwise has been great for my business.

Yes, I’ve had the same discussion with them over there. I was put on the “beta” list as well. So far no changes whatsoever.

Hi All,

I’m in the same situation, seeing the import/export function for the store disappear. I’m developing a site looking at 500+ products to be imported. I have yet to get the product data but I am developing an Excel based tool which will “do the clicks for me” in anticipation to automate the process. I have coded the fundamentals and it is functional. Would anyone be interested in this tool if I develop it?

Further to my previous post, I now have an automated “New Product” process. Adds products from a spreadsheet at a rate of about 30 seconds/product.

Currently it inputs: Name, Price, Description, Track Inventory, Inventory Number, Image(s).

These were the fields I needed filled, but could be expanded. If anyone is interested is viewing a demo here: https://ds0089.wixsite.com/code

This tool will be FREE to use for anyone that wants it. I am willing to further develop it, it’s done the job for me and will be massive help for future projects but I’m keen to push it further and help others. Thanks!

Hi All,

Again further to the last posts, I have significantly developed my New Product tool. If you are interested then I have setup a site with a Demo video and description;

Thanks!

Hi, I’ve been looking for this feature, but don’t see it. You write it is back?

Yeap, I am totally disappointed I have found out that there is no possible way to get the import only after paying for the subscription. At this point point, the only correct way to make it fair is to delete or at least edit the articles that are explaining how to import the products

Dear DS89,
I works !
And it works quite good and fast . the only error i have at the SKU . the script stops working when it has to insert the SKU information. can you suggest ?

I really recommend, this is a great workaround

Is there any News on the Import / Export Feature ? This is a standard feature of simple webshops, so I was really shocked after finding out, this feature is not available at the moment (at least for me). Seeing this post going back now for 1 year and didn’t find any info on the update whatsoever.

Hi Marcel,
Welcome. Unfortunately , no news, but have a look and try the DS89 1, it only fails when updating SKU and inventory. And maybe if we will be more users of the workaround kindly provided by DS89 1, maybe he will develop it further. Enjoy
