When users click the back button on my website, there is a noticeable delay in response. If they press the back button twice due to the delay, they end up exiting the site, which negatively impacts my business. How can I resolve this issue to ensure a smoother user experience and prevent accidental exits?

What are you trying to achieve:
I have a clothing website and need to display photos of designs.
I guess it could be resolved by opening the page in new tab which will prevent user from exiting my website or is there any better solution
What have you already tried:
Already tried to optimise the size of the images between the range of 300-600kb in webp format.

What is the efficient way to display photos of design on the website? I have been using both gallery and also single photo in single section to check whether it improves the performance or not.
