Will there be an export function just in case something happens and you have to recreate your site?

Wix has an auto save you can turn on to prevent any loss of your site. At anytime you can go to your site history and revert to any previous version of your site. I’ve never tested it, but your histrory goes back months. You’ll never lose your site data thanks to this feature.
WIX sites are cloud based, and only the individual elements can be exported. The site itself is not exportable.

I doubt they ever make it possible to export site data like that. What would stop you from building your site in wix and then hosting it somewhere else if they did? Wix only makes money off of hosing premium sites.

Currently, it is not possible to back up your site externally. Wix is committed to ensuring the safety of your site, we keep multiple backups of each site. Additionally, we created the Site History feature, which automatically creates site revisions every time you save or publish. This means that you can go back to a previous version of your site any time you want.
You can also duplicate your site at any time to create a manual backup in your Wix account. Be aware that the duplicated site is not automatically updated when your update your original site.
We also have options to export data from apps like Wix Stores and Wix CRM.
