I am at an impasse here. I have a wix website almost ready to publish for my car club but I am stuck waiting for the release of the “Paid Membership Feature”. I have successfully implemented the Wix User Profile, but the users in my wix collection are not “contacts” per se, and therefore they cannot login using the default Wix users Login validation mechanism. Since the wix site is a migration from an existing site, as a workaround can I:
Set my Join club and Renew dues links on the wix site to link to my external existing site to capture/update user info and accept payments to my external site database.
Have a nightly batch run from my external system to dump out in CSV form any new/renewed membership records and then use the Wix IMPORT Contacts feature, which I would have to manually perform daily.
Would this allow a user to click on the Wix Login button, reset their password (to generate one) and then be able to login and access member protected pages, and order items from the online store on the new wix site?
Thanks Patrick, I am aware of that and would implement it. But that still does not solve the problem that the Wix login validation does not use my membership database.
I’m not sure I understand, but seems to me that the question is basically:
Can I export and import users?
We’ll unfortunately you can’t.
What you have in your database is created by you, upon user sign up.
This means that if you’re moving to another site, the user will have to sign up again (register).
You can, however, still export and import the data, and use it. But you’ll have inconsistencies until all of your users are registered to the new site.
For example you have 50 users and records in database.
If you export and import the data, all 51 records are on your database.
BUT, this doesn’t mean that a user can log in. Actually, he can’t. He’ll have to register again.
So, until everyone registers again, you’ll have more records in your database then actual users.
I hope you have figured out your problem with the import/export feature. I can’t help you there, but you mentioned you were waiting on the release of the Paid Membership feature. I have developed this feature independently, so I thought you might be interested. You can find more info on this thread here:
