Adding to my long list of #FeatureRequest - I would like to raise attention to another feature which would help so much to contribute to the overall WIX experience.
As you all know, mobile usage on the web is what counts when designing a website. Traffic via mobile devices has surpass desktop way back in 2016 and is constantly on the rise. If you have any doubts, you can turn to any research done on the issue and see the same story everywhere, mobile is king.
Yet when we design a site, the mobile view and editor derive from the desktop main editor with a very limited editing options. Needless to say, the vertical nature of mobile phone screen and the horizontal nature of the desktop experience is the main issue when we battle to match the mobile site to the desktop version. It is so difficult to use the desktop version images, galleries, even text formatting within the mobile editor as a start point.
The only way to resolve this issue and help us deliver a BEAUTIFUL & RICH Wix mobile experience is to balance the scales of the Wix editor toward the mobile experience and allow us to have a start point as we have now (a basic translation of the desktop site into a mobile version) but at the same time, have fully functional editing tools to replace every object on the mobile page with a new one to match the mobile experience expectation of the site visitors.
Imagine a WIX mobile editor with all the tools available on the desktop version at our fingertips allowing us to create a perfect mobile experience rather than the current feeling of total constrain and lightweight editing options we have now. The current mobile editor allows you to show or not show objects, and thats it but as you know, when creating a mobile site, you want to have images, buttons, links, graphics - everything - designed for vertical view, designed for touch screen and finger gestures.
Let me be clear, I do not expect the mobile editor to turn our website into a full app experience (that would be wonderful – I am sure you are all as excited as me to see the new Beta feature of “Welcome screen” and the possibility for a future full onboarding experience with a few welcome screens) - but at least allow us to edit the mobile site as a separate entity which derive the contents from the desktop version as a start point, but not by any mean, constrained by it.
What do you think? Am I expecting too much or the mobile experience has so much weight today that we should have the same weight been put into the editing capabilities of the mobile editor on our Wix system?
