It’s about time. We’re glad to share that Corvid is now Velo.

It’s no secret that the name ‘Corvid’ had to go. We needed a name that reflects the power of the platform and what it can really do. Short for velocity, ‘Velo’ is just that — it accelerates your dev velocity so you can build professional web apps, faster.

Thanks for the post, but sorry is not the prettiest or the right name for a development technology honestly Velo feels like old JQuery the brand needs to show case the power of NPM and NodeJS, APIs the website needs to be more technical if you want to attach skilled developers. On the other hand Velo can be anything not only velocity is totally open to human interpretation on the middle of an important meeting there is no time for interpretations it is important a defined name at least on my case when I have to present it to our clients is not going to sound powerful either robust.

It’s very subjective.
I guess that Wix ran surveys and asked their developers for their opinions before they decided to change it.

I hope that since Velo stands for “velocity”, the Wix dev team will put a lot of effort in the “velocity” of the sites :grinning:

Its not about the name! It has transformed my business in so radical way. Call it Velo, Corvid, Aids or Cancer. Its the best plataform ever

running “Npx create-velo-app…” in the command line is 404ing so is it really released?

I think you need to try create-corvid-app since wix may not yet update it

Still being called Corvid on the CLI yes there is no Velo CLI available

No offense but I found the name Corvid to be ugly from the get-go. Not to mention why it got even uglier due to (not so) recent events.

Velo is way better, by the way, it mean bike in French ^^
