I want to use tags to filter items in a cms collection of 200 records

What are you trying to achieve:
I have successfully set up a cms with a few dummy records; I have added a tags-type field with the intention of having a tags input element on the cms list page, so that the user can narrow down the range of records displayed. But when I key in a tag to the tags field and hit enter, my text just disappears.
What have you already tried:
I have scoured the help centre and several related video tutorials.
My setup
I am using Safari on a Mac with a modern operating system (Monterey)
