How can I track the number of downloads from a dataset collection table?

I want to populate the a column in the collection with the Download Count. When the hyperlinked “PDF” or “DWG” are clicked, I want to count the click. I’ve seen solutions for button events, but I can’t figure out how to do it from a URL in a table.
