How can you create a gift card as a site owner

Question:
So, we have the gift card feature enabled on the website. Customers can buy gift cards as they like, so far, so good. But we also hand out physical gift cards. So we’d like to create the gift cards ourselves. We can’t use Wix POS as we live in Belgium and use mollie payments for Wix, not Wix’s own payments.

There’s no option in the backend or in the owner pages to create gift cards, and there’s no option via the api either… So… how can we create gift cards ourselves?

Create a gift card without using the public page and without going through the payment process.

Do you mean customers can get gift cards without payments, let’s say by using e-mail unlock gate.

We would create the gift card, write down the code on a coupon and give them to the customer. Does that make sense? Payment would be done via our own pos

Nothing? It’s even worse, because we can’t see the codes that get generated through the website. So, in fact, there’s currently no way to add physical gift cards, unless we order them, have them sent to ourselves, etc etc. It’s super cumbersome…

Sorry I completely missed the post.

How about using a CMS collection. You can collect user information using a CMS collection. That won’t ask for payment as well. Just get the information and send the code or coupons manually.

If you want to distribute the premade code via email, you can use Wix CMS automation or Zapier.

Hey, did you end up finding a solution for this? We are in a very similar place and want to have gift card codes. Concern is with double payments in our bookkeeping

Unfortunately, no. We have some other frustrations with wix as well and are looking to move away from Wix, so that might end up being the solution :smiley:

@user4272 @marijnnn Would using a coupon be a viable solution?

e.g. you create a coupon for a fixed price discount (e.g. $25) and then provide that code to the people you wish?

It’s functionally very similar to a gift card - albeit I understand giftcards can have partial usage, whereas I don’t believe coupons do

Indeed, that’s the main issue here: Coupons can’t be used partially, where most of the gift cards are for more than the amount of a single purchase, it seems.
